So tonight while I was spending an hour making 21 meals for the week, thinking to myself why do I do this every week?
Something dawned on me. The first pic is my old koolie. She lived until a ripe old age of 16 which is really very good! But here’s the thing…she was over weight, she played ball endlessly every day, she was fed kibble and wet food. She started joint injections monthly at 7 years old. 7! She began stiffening up and visibly limping. Most people would tell you 7 means she’s a senior! Yes she had a good long life, but she slowed dramatically at 7 and just sort of potted around.
Fast forward to Midge. When my Spottie girl passed my heart actually broke, I cried non stop for nearly 2 weeks. Midge came into my life to fill a void and I was determined to do better for her and every dog after her, to make sure they not only had long lives but healthy lives!
Midge has just turned 7, she still runs around (and barks, geez I wish that would go away 😂) like a young pup! She still is running at top speed with no signs of slowing! Midge at 7 is in her prime. She is on joint prevention in the form of natural supplements and despite several major injuries, is no where near needing medical intervention.
She is incredibly fit and strong and every yearly vet check reports she’s in top shape!
We do not play ball! While we do flyball, we do it once a week. There are no repetitive ball, disc, insert other chasing games here at our place and never will be again. They instead have an off switch and don’t actually need to be on the go all the time and are much better for it.
They have a very healthy and varied diet, to which I’ve also added anti inflammatory foods as well as foods that bind mycotoxins clearing out system for a healthier functioning body.
It was a fantastic reminder of why I do all this. Spot survived on what I fed her and the games we played. Midge however, she’s thriving. When we know better, we do better.

As 2023 closes I would like to thank every one who has supported Mighty Mutt this year!
The business unfortunately has seen some changes but my passion is still there!
My goal this year is to spend more time with my own Mighty Mutts while still helping you with yours when I can!
Happy new year!

It’s one of the worst nights for our pets!
Mine will all be given a dose of Lovebites B-calm, a few sprays of Shy Tiger night spray, and we will all be sound asleep with some calming music playing when the fireworks begin.
We did this last year and while they woke up to listen, they didn’t freak out and didn’t panic!
What will you be doing to keep your Mighty Mutt calm?

Tell me you’re a crazy dog person without telling me you’re a crazy dog person 😂
Get a cold pressed juicer to make the wheatgrass more bioavailable for them, but for now they like their cow impersonations 😂
Ned steals it from the box!
