I’ve barely had a spare second to take photos at this time of year but when clients send me selfies this good I really do not care 💛💛💛

18 months of trust and patience went into this transformation. My client has successfully transitioned away from full coverage tint and stepped into a more natural, liberating approach to grey management.

Over three colour sessions (including three really decent haircuts!), we’ve slowly eased old colour out of the hair, paying close attention to how the natural tones are growing in and enhancing what’s already there. Rather than covering, we’re now polishing and refining her natural greys — creating a soft, dimensional blend that celebrates, rather than hides, what her hair is beautiful about her natural hair.

If you look closely, you might still spot a whisper of old tint on the top layer, but by this point, her hair is essentially her own, with my colour placement enhancing it. She now only needs to maintain it every six months, instead of colouring every five weeks.

It takes patience to go through this kind of transition and if we’re being real there are plenty of moments where it feels confronting, or where you’re like wtf what am I even doing? But if you can trust the process, the rewards are so worth it. Grey hair grows whether we tint it or not — and choosing to break the relentless cycle of full coverage tint and learning to enhance and celebrate it can be incredibly freeing.

As a bonus my client said to me that her hair is the healthiest it’s ever been, which is of course the absolute goal when is comes to creating wearable, maintainable hair. Low maintenance colour, a great cut and healthy hair that requires less daily styling.
