How interesting is this - cohabiting couples share similar gut microbiotas! 💛
Physical interaction promotes microbial sharing, and couples’ intimate behaviours - touching, kissing, and s*x - ensure microbial transfers. Importantly, factors including diet, drugs, and body measurements account for over 20% of between-person gut microbiota variability – a large sphere of influence for couples’ shared living space and lifestyle patterns.
So you could be in sync even down to your bacteria!

Fall in love with life again! 💛
If you've fallen out of love with life, try some of these:
Make room for surprises. Instead of trying to control every aspect of your life, give your life the chance to surprise you from time to time. Say yes to the date you would usually reject or the party you’re not sure if you should go to. You’ll never know unless you give it a shot.
Learn to receive love. Accept help from friends when they offer it. Accept compliments when they’re directed at you. Let yourself be loved in the tiny ways you don’t always allow yourself to be, and watch how much easier it becomes to accept your own love, too.
Practice gratitude. Every time a negative thought crosses your mind, deliberately counter-act it with a positive one. Life isn’t all sunshine and roses, but it is a lot more positive than we tend to give it credit for.
Speak to one new person every day. Take an extra two minutes out of each day to learn your barista’s name or tell the bus driver that you appreciate them. You’ll be surprised at how many incredible people are already in your vicinity.
Dedicate time to self-improvement. Set aside an hour or two a week to work on personal goals, projects and affirmations. Become your own life coach and make self-improvement the priority that it deserves to be.
Practice forgiveness. Let past grudges fall by the wayside and allow peoples presents to overcome their pasts. You don’t have to welcome them back into your life, but you do deserve to welcome peace back into yours. And forgiveness is an integral part of doing just that.
Leave the past behind. Give yourself active permission to let go of the mistakes you’ve made, and all the ways in which your past has let you down. To move forward you have to face forward – so give yourself permission to do so.
Start looking at health holistically. Health isn’t just about eating your veggies and going for regular runs (though it’s also about that) – true health means that you’re taking care of yourself physically, emotionally and psychologically. Failing to make time for self-care means failing to make time for your overall sense of wellbeing.

Believing in yourself is such a big part of your self-care. You probably look for the good in other people and other situations, so why not do the same for yourself? 💛

How about swapping the next 5 minutes of scrolling for 5 minutes of mindfulness, and see how you feel?
And remember, mindfulness doesn't just mean meditation, different things work for different people and what's key is discovering what works for you. 💛
What are your favourite ways to practice mindfulness?

Let's talk about the gut being linked to our brains and why it matters! 🧠
Your gut microbes and brain are in constant communication. All day, every day. This constant chatter is referred to as your gut-brain axis.
Your gut and brain are physically connected by your vagus nerve (think of this like a phone cable) and chemical signals whiz up and down – messages pinging back and forth.
They also both have a huge impact on each other so looking after your gut and it’s community of microbes can be just one of the many tools in your box to support your mental health. Just like focusing on looking after your mental health will have a positive impact on the health of your gut and its microbes.
Be aware of this connection and it can help empower you to manage and change your own gut journey!
