Things that apparently “don’t match my age”… but feel completely normal to me at 53:

Wearing something because I love it, not because it’s considered “age appropriate.”

Starting over. Again.

Building a bigger dream when the world quietly suggests I should be winding down.

Lifting heavy weights because I want to feel strong, capable and powerful in my body.

Caring about my skin, my makeup and how I present myself, without apologising.

Happy House and Dance music.

Laughing loudly.

Wanting love, passion, adventure and a full, juicy life.

Being a devoted mum and still wanting a life that belongs to me.

Feeling heartbroken one minute and wildly hopeful about what’s ahead the next.

Changing my mind.

Taking the photo.

Wearing the lipstick.

Backing myself.

I don’t want to look younger. I want to look healthy, vibrant, full of love, vitality, joy, well-rested-ish… and unmistakably like me.

Age doesn’t get to decide what we wear, how visible we are, what we desire or how boldly we begin again.

At 53, I’m not trying to recapture who I was.

I’m becoming more of who I am.

Tell me, what do you do that supposedly “doesn’t match your age” but feels completely normal to you?

People often ask me what I’ve “had done”… so let’s talk about it.

I’m 53, and I’m not pretending my skin looks the way it does because of one miracle cream, one facial or one clever camera angle.

The biggest difference comes from what I do at home, consistently.

Gentle hydrating cleanser, hydrating calming mist, nutrient rich face oil, more hydration, occasional plant based vitamin-C, sunscreen. Supporting my skin barrier. Taking my makeup off properly, even when I’m tired and absolutely cannot be bothered.

Nothing wildly complicated. Nothing performed perfectly every day. Just good habits, repeated over time.

That’s my 90%.

The other 10% is occasional professional treatments. I’m not anti-injectables, anti-laser or anti-anything that helps a woman feel more confident in her own skin. I’m also not here to tell you that you need any of it.

I believe in informed choices, realistic expectations and doing what feels right for you.

Because professional treatments can enhance your skin, but they cannot replace caring for the health of it every single day.

You can soften a line, lift something, smooth something or zap something … but none of it will do the job of daily sunscreen, consistent skincare and a healthy skin barrier.

And this is the part I wish more women were told before spending thousands of dollars trying to “fix” themselves

You are not a problem to be solved.

Your skin is living, changing and ageing. The goal isn’t to look frozen in time. It’s to help your skin look healthy, fresh and beautifully cared for at every age and stage.

No judgement. No secrets. No pretending it’s all genetics and water.

Just honesty, consistency and choices that make you feel more like you.
