Life has a way of pulling us into the constant doing.
Running a business
Being a mum
Being a loving partner, wife
Showing up for everyone
Wearing all the hats
But somewhere along the way, we can forget to simply… be.
Over the weekend, Ray and I spent some time on a farm, and it was exactly what my soul needed. I wasn’t expecting the emotions that came with it. Holding a tiny baby chicken in my hands, watching a little pig happily running around, standing quietly amongst the cows… I found myself in tears.
There was something so peaceful, so gentle, so grounding about being surrounded by animals and nature. It reminded me how healing it is when we step away from the noise and reconnect with what really matters.
Maybe the most productive thing we can do sometimes isn’t doing more… it’s slowing down enough to breathe, to feel, and to simply exist.
This is your little reminder to give something back to yourself. Put your phone down
Take your shoes off
Walk on the grass
Hug an animal
Sit under a tree
Watch a sunset

Every event, every conversation, every hug and every story reminds me exactly why I started Indie Hair Academy.
My mission has never been about building the biggest business. It’s about creating the biggest impact for independent hairdressers and solo operators.
As a solo operator myself, I know what it’s like to second-guess yourself. I’ve lived the uncertainty, the late nights, the “Am I doing this right?” moments, the overwhelm of wearing every hat, and the pressure of trying to build a successful business without anyone showing you how.
That’s why Indie exists.
To give independent hairdressers the support, education, community and guidance they deserve. To provide the pathway I wish I’d had when I first stepped out on my own.
I truly believe solo operators deserve the same opportunities, resources and professional support as anyone else in our industry.
I’m here to help raise the standard, build confidence, simplify business, and empower more hairdressers to create profitable businesses and lives they genuinely love.
Because when we lift one another up, our entire industry becomes stronger.
