Imagine coming forward as a victim/survivor in one of the biggest sexual assault cases in the entertainment industry.

Imagine being asked to take the stand.

Being flown to another country to testify.

Telling your truth in a court room packed with lawyers, journalists, strangers and supporters.

Then watching pieces of your testimony appear in newspapers, on television and online around the world.

At first you read the articles, the headlines.

Then you read the comments.

That can become a rabbit hole.

Most people are incredibly supportive, kind and compassionate. I will never forget those people.

But there is another side.

The trolls.

The people who know nothing about you, nothing about your experience and yet feel entitled to say the most cruel, hateful and hurtful things imaginable.

For years, I engaged only with the positive people and then I started engaging with the negative, because I couldn’t help myself. I wanted to educate them.

Because behind every headline is a real person.

A person who has to live with what happened.

A person who still feels the impact long after the case is over.

June 9th and 16th at 8.30pm the ABC will air the two part doco called Rolf Harris -Prime Time Predator.

This will be the third documentary I’ve participated in on this subject and it will be my last.

I’m proud to be part of the first Australian production on this story.

I’m proud of every woman who found the courage to come forward and tell the truth. It takes extraordinary bravery.

But if I’m being honest, this time, I feel anxious.

Maybe because it’s my country.

Maybe it’s because I know exactly what comes next.

The articles.

The opinions.

The comments.

And yet despite all of that, I would still do it all again.

Because silence protects predators.

Truth protects people.
