Fifteen and a half years and the lights are out.
It wasn’t quite the end I anticipated as the power went out and my poor client had to lean over the basin for a cold wash. Then, only to finish her appointment in the staff room at her office 🫣 BUT it made it memorable.
I’m not sure I have the words tonight, I’m hoping most of you received my email - here goes..
I’m full of love and gratitude for everyone one of my clients that have been with me throughout my journey as a hair stylist in Whanganui, thank you for supporting my first business where it all started 21 years ago - Renaissance Hair Design in Guyton Street, and here at Pure Hair Spa/Hair by Jessica Marie.
Thank you for choosing me, at any stage, to take care of you and your hair. It has been an honour to work behind the chair with you in it. I will treasure the connections and friendships made in my salon. I am privileged to know your stories, shared your highs and your lows, and feel just so darn special that you felt happy and safe with your hair and your hearts in my space.
With a full and heavy heart I’m signing off in Whanganui as Hair by Jessica Marie.

I’m not playing favourites, I promise, but this is hair (and gorgeous human) I am going to miss 🥹😍
It’s been crazy busy here wrapping up our life, in amongst a busy salon schedule, and lots of tears with emotional goodbyes. You all are really the best - how can I actually leave you?!!
But you’re support means the absolute world 🥰😘😘

Well that’s a wrap on the Christmas Chaos.
I’m not going to lie, with packing up our life, managing the salon load and the emotional goodbyes, I’m one emotionally spent and exhausted stylist. But, I am grateful to all of my beautiful clients for the love, gifts, and the tears.
I’m looking forward to seeing those of you booked in the next few weeks, and in the mean time - Merry Christmas to you all xx
The way your hair looks under different lights is a THING! This colour shows up beautifully under any light so who cares 😍.
So the story goes with this gorgeous client that this was our “break up doo”. She said short and darker because she needed time to grieve losing me and didn’t want to go to a new hairdresser 🥹🥹🥹
So, we compromised and went from full blonde highlights to a soft rooty blended natural blonde.
I’ve said it many times before but I LOVE Paul Mitchell The Demi! I used a formulation that seamlessly blended her natural hair, and diffuse the demarcation line of the grown out blonde, stretched into a beautiful honey beige gloss while keeping brightness with face framing highlights.
It’s been so busy in the salon creating gorgeous hair, having sentimental conversations, and saying goodbyes. My heart is heavy as my time is coming to an end in the salon, but full of gratitude for this incredible journey we have been on together.

It’s with mixed emotions that I share this news:
My family and I will be leaving Whanganui in January. It has all happened so quickly, and while we’re excited for the next chapter, I am so deeply sad to be saying goodbye.
This little salon has been my happy place for so many years. I’ve grown alongside so many of you (as well as my family), some for 15 years since I opened, and some since my very first salon 21 years ago. The relationships we’ve built, the conversations, the trust… I will forever treasure them.
My final working day will be in early January, I'm still working this out, and I’ll be in touch with anyone whose appointment falls after that. For now, I’m looking forward to seeing you at your Christmas and New Year visits and soaking up every moment.
Thank you for your loyalty, your kindness, and your support — it has meant everything. ❤️

Fresh and bright balayage for the festive season ahead - this gorgeous lady is ready to party 🎄 ☀️ 🎁
Cherry Cola Hair is the new trend and we are totally here for it 🙌🙌🙌.
What made this appointment more special is that this gorgeous gal chose to get spoilt by me on her birthday - it’s such a treat to look after people and make them feel amazing inside and out.
Salon refreshments are stocked and my space is ready to welcome this week’s clients. No time for baking this week sorry - Whitakers it is.
It’s a massive week ahead, and I’m so excited to take care of all of my lovely clients.
November spaces are very scarce so if you’re wanting to sneak in some “you” time and have your hair looking fab for the festive season, get in touch ASAP! December is almost gone too.

Absolutely LOVED installing these extensions for - there really is nothing better than doing a hair transformation for someone, especially when you can give them instant length like this.
Java beaded wefts were used, and I added a custom root melt to the wefts prior to installation for a seamless blend.
