What a beautiful start to the weekend, lovebirds Angela and Leonard celebrated their anniversary making their couple perfume 🥰

Leonard’s perfume is boozy, warm and spicy with dark patchouli, palo santo, cocoa and dragons blood.

Angela made an elegant Jasmine perfume, a beautiful balance of freshness and spice.

What a thrill and an absolute honour to be invited back by NUmates, The University of Newcastle’s Student Wellbeing and Support Programme!

A group of students from various colleges attended my perfume class. Many of them from the Sciences, completing their PhDs in Medicine, Psychology and Public Health. There were guests studying Economics, Education, Technology and Nutrition. I’d say it’s one of the most diverse groups of students I’ve ever had!

We opened the nose (figuratively!). We stretched our imagination and surrendered ourselves to creative play. All of us, together, under one stunning roof, the University Art Gallery ❤️

Thank you for a truly magical day of smelling, experimenting and creating.

Looking forward to

I’m glad I opened the studio for K+R today. Friends since high school, they’ve been planning to attend my perfume class for over a year since K relocated to Goulburn!

They came to the class with a tight creative brief! K wanted to make a citrus-forward perfume and R, a floral perfume.

With their briefs in mind, I guided the ladies to ensure their creative compositions are also technically robust. K’s challenge was longevity, as many citrus materials are top notes, project well, but need structural support for longevity. And R wanted to ensure her floral perfume is balanced, so it’s not too sweet or overpowering.

Life’s full of beautiful surprises x Louella

Here’s a story about finding community in one of Sydney’s busiest streets.

INDI Sydney is the first of its kind, a new concept in commercial and metro living, a purpose-build to rent development right in the heart of Sydney CBD. When the Building Management reached out about my perfume class, I admit, I did not have a full grasp of what the event would be for.

But, the moment I stepped into the building, I got it. Residents are mostly students and young professionals. People from all parts of the world. Many of them recently moved to Sydney and still finding their feet.

As I was running the perfume class which I designed specially for the residents, I couldn’t stop smiling. People with different accents (just like me) sharing stories about their home countries and loved ones they left behind, as they start a new life in Australia.

One of them shares how the french lavender reminded her of her mum. And one says the scent of roses transport her back to their garden. Many already recognise the tenaciously herbacious and earthy allure of eucalyptus.

How beautiful to hear stories sprouted through scents - those which are familiar, comforting and familiar.

How beautiful to see people coming together through an experience where every moment is unique and yet, shared.
