L shaped handstands
This a great asana pose to strengthen your upper body. Just as importantly, you can use this asana to correct shoulder, hand and hip alignment. Do not try is you have any injuries. This asana works at getting you to stack your hips, shoulders and wrists vertically, even though your legs are horizontal.
In this pose your centre of balance shifts somewhere to the point between your knees and your pelvis (hence do not stack your knees, shoulders and hands).
Start in Downward Facing Dog with your heels against the wall. Now engage your core and start with one foot higher against the wall - flat foot pressed against the wall. Keep each foot/leg climbing up the wall to come into a L Shape. Breath, Breath and Breath.

Handstands are an effective and fun way to build upper body strength. Handstands are an offshoot of improving core strength. When upside down. Your normal blood floor inverts, increasing circulation to your upper body while relieving pressure on your feet and legs. Handstands also benefit your spine, increase bone health in your wrists, arms and shoulders. Your diaphragm stretches - which increases blood to your lungs.

This little cute out fit is . One of my favourite brands. The most functional workout attire, not to mention rocking designs ladies. Available at all good stockists. Particularly ❤️
Again, just a general PSA. I am sure I am double most people’s age on Instagram. am a mum. I work two jobs. I am not available. I am out here trying to be happy and enjoy Yoga. If I can change one person’s life with me introducing them to Yoga - happy days. I’m not here for any DM about any of body parts, especially my toes (fe**sh I guess?). Leave my toes, bumps…all of it alone.
Just chill, Netflix and unfollow. Have the most beautiful day ever.

Before I taught Yoga this morning, I wondered around the Melbourne Botanical Gardens on my own. I embraced the luxury of some rare time alone. I tried to make sense of the last whirlwind month.
Of recent, I made a choice to leave a very safe job. I have accepted another job that is undoubtedly going to push me beyond my normal limits. My fee Mondays to teach will now be gone 🥲( still have Wednesday nights and Fridays special humans).
Deciding to make this recent choice, came with so much more self doubt than I was prepared for. Mum guilt is real. Where do you choose “You,” as your own person, in the midst of of all your other responsibilities? I truly believe I can’t grow anymore, if I don’t do this. The pendulum has to swing both ways at some point.
When I first started teaching Yoga as a hobby, and started this Instagram page, I followed my passion in the most organic sense. I had no business plan, I had no marketing plan. I certainly did not have any actual professional guidance on how I should curate this page either.
To the very few that probably have followed this page since inception, you may be aware I am a women who feels all the feels. ALL of them. I wear my heart on my sleeve. I will listen to a song and dance like no one is watching. I will also listen to a song which can bring me to my knees. I will not run from rain, but place my face towards it. I will see beauty in a flower. However; I will see sadness in other people’s struggles and pain.
My point is Yoga saved my life. I have benefited hugely from the balance it provides. I believe Yoga offers a complete system of physical, mental, social, and spiritual development. I am deeply passionate about how transformative this pastime can be.
Yoga in Sanskrit means, “union.” Through Yoga, we learn to master our body and mind to cultivate inner stillness, and the ever growing realisation of our inner most soul. The traditional practice of Yoga is holistic by nature, and includes every aspect of life.

Downward Dog, Ardo Mukha Svanasana.
I love this particular inversion. This is an asana that is often practised as part of flowing sequence, such as a sun salutation A or B. This is an asana that has a lot going on in terms of alignment 🤪
1. Begin by bringing your hands and knees to the floor.
2. Point your fingers towards the top of your mat.
3. Exhale, tuck your toes and lift knees off the floor, extending legs out.
4. Bring your body into the shape of an “A”.
5. Bring heels to the floor.
6. Spread fingers wide and press into your palms and knuckles, in order to evenly distribute your weight across each hand, when holding this pose.
7. As you lengthen your spine, lift your sit bones towards the sky.
8. Draw shoulder blades back down towards your tailbone.
9. Draw your chest towards your thighs as you press away from your mat, lengthening and decompressing your spine (which gives you that weird sucked in tummy look 🤷🏽♀️).
10. Engage quadriceps.
11. Rotate thighs inwards as your tailbone draws up toward sky.
12. Align your ears with upper arms.
13. Relax neck and gaze towards navel - (which I didn’t hold at the exact moment this photo got taken 🙄).
14. Hold for 5-100 breaths 🥵

Who is the heck is Shoroni?
As I finally accept my Summer holidays are finished and it is time for me to return to reality, I thought it a good time to reintroduce myself to any new followers.
I am adopted from Bangladesh by a United Nations Diplomat. Due to my Father’s work, I left Bangladesh and went on to live in Africa and Asia. At the age of 18, I moved to Australia on my own to study Business Administration at RMIT University. Upon graduating, I went to work in the Finance Industry. Which I currently still do.
To balance out the demands of the corporate world, I regularly attended Yoga classes throughout this time, and benefited hugely from the balance it provided.
My motto is, "Life is all about balance." This is evident from Instagram page, mostly Yoga shots, dispersed with some social unrelated social posts 😉
During COVID, I took the opportunity to get serious about my dedication to the practice of Yoga. So I completed my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training Certification (whilst working for my family Insurance business and home schooling 😳).
I believe Yoga offers a complete system of physical, mental, social, and spiritual development. I am deeply passionate about how transformative this pastime can be, regardless of your background.
Being a corporate working mother of two, I understand the demands of balancing motherhood and work, and appreciates how busy life can get. Drawing from this life experience, the concept of behind "Yoga with Shoroni," was born.
So now I offer personalised "one on one," Yoga classes in the comfort of my women client's own home. I believes the convenience of coming to a client’s house will allow people who may be; time poor, don’t feel comfortable in a studio setting, or just beginning their yoga journey, the opportunity to engage in the practices of Yoga in a friendly enviroment.

Ustrasana - Camel Pose
Backbends in particular, are strong energising poses. They tap into the circulatory system by increasing blood flow throughout the body, in most cases all the way from the head to the toes. A form of instant energy.
This Camel pose asana stretches the front of the body, particularly the chest, the abdomen, and the quadriceps. This pose is great for spinal mobility. Especially when you tend to slouch forward in front of a computer most days 👌🏾
