There are seasons in motherhood where so much is shifting beneath the surface, it can be hard to name. You may feel tender, changed, or suspended between what was and what is still becoming. This is the quiet language of the in-between.
Winter meets you here. It does not rush you or ask for clarity. It simply holds. And in that holding, there is space to soften, to grieve, to slowly become.
Not everything needs to be figured out right now. Some seasons are here to be witnessed, not solved.
May you feel gently held as you stand in the space between what was and what is becoming.

Postpartum doesn’t end at six weeks - it unfolds over years.
When we look through the lens of matresence, we see that a mother’s brain is still adapting, rewiring, and evolving well into her child’s early years. Current research shows these changes continue for at least the first 7 years - and likely beyond, we just haven’t studied it long enough yet.
This isn’t just emotional. It’s physiological, neurological, and deeply psychological. The transition into motherhood reshapes everything.
And yet, most care models still close the door after 6-weeks.
We’re asking mothers to navigate one of the most profound transformations of their lives with minimal ongoing support.
If we truly understood matrescence, we wouldn’t just normalise these changes - we would build systems around them.
Longer care. Better follow-up. Integrated support for the whole family.
Because mothers aren’t meant to do this alone - and they were never designed to.

Winter has a way of softening everything… the light, the pace, the expectations we carry.
And yet, so many of us keep moving as if nothing has changed.
Our children don’t.
They linger.
They notice.
They move slowly enough to feel the world as it is.
There’s something quietly powerful in letting their rhythm lead us, even just for a moment. Not rushing the walk. Not hurrying the snack. Not filling the silence.
Just being in it.
Maybe this season isn’t asking you to do more, but to gently release the urgency you’ve been holding.
To trust that slower can still be enough.
A little more presence.
A little less pressure.
A little more like them.
What might shift for you if you let your child set the pace, even for just one part of your day?

Your shoulders are doing so much lifting 🤍
Carrying your baby, lifting capsules, reaching, feeding—it’s constant.
The rotator cuff can become overworked and tight, leading to discomfort or reduced movement.
Massage helps release, restore, and support strength and mobility in your shoulders.
You don’t have to push through the tension.
Book in-home, Hatched House 🥚Women’s Health Clinic Hawthorn, or MIWM-WOMEN'S, KIDS & INFANT CLINIC _ DR AMBER HART Parkville.
How are your shoulders feeling lately?

when my clients share that they’re feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or anxious, one of the first things I gently introduce is an orienting practice 🌿
orienting helps bring us out of the swirl of thoughts and back into the present moment through our senses - a place where the nervous system can begin to soften.
sometimes it’s as simple as lighting a favourite oil or incense (pictured) and letting the scent guide them back to themselves.
other times it’s the feeling of air moving across the skin, the warmth of sun on the face, or listening to the subtle sounds around them.
we all have different sensory doorways that feel safest and most supportive.
a simple orienting practice you can try:
🌿pause for a moment and slowly look around your space. name five things you can see.
🌿notice four things you can feel (your clothes, the chair beneath you, the air on your skin).
🌿listen for three things you can hear.
🌿notice two things you can smell (or bring something close to smell).
🌿become aware of one thing you can taste, or simply notice the taste in your mouth.
finish with one gentle breath in through your nose, and a long exhale out.
no need to change anything - just notice.
what are your anchors in stressful moments?
which sense do you naturally reach for when your nervous system needs support?

Pregnancy invites you into a deeper relationship with your body - one that asks for listening, not pushing.
As your body changes, your interoceptive sense (your ability to feel what’s happening inside - hunger, fatigue, baby’s movements, emotional shifts) becomes more pronounced. You may notice subtle cues more clearly, or feel things you’ve never felt before. At the same time, your proprioceptive sense (your awareness of where your body is in space) begins to shift as your centre of gravity changes and your body grows and adapts.
These aren’t inconveniences - they’re invitations.
Invitations to slow down.
To move with more awareness.
To trust the feedback your body is constantly offering.
You might find yourself moving differently without even realising it. Turning sideways to pass through spaces. Pausing before getting up. Adjusting how you roll in bed. Becoming more mindful of where furniture sits as you navigate your home.
Simple tasks may feel unfamiliar - like tying your shoelaces, reaching for something on the floor, or carrying items the way you once did without thinking.
This is your body recalibrating. Communicating. Protecting.
Instead of resisting these changes, what happens if you meet them with curiosity?
What has your body been asking of you lately - and have you been able to listen?
I’d love to hear… what everyday activities have changed for you since becoming pregnant?
