🩹SKIN LIFT🩹

Commonly confused for a wax burn, a skin lift (AKA: skin graze / skin tear) can feel like sunburn or chafing and while healing it can form a scab. Healing time will depend on how well you look after the area, it will usually heal within 3-7 days.

The goal of waxing is to rip out any unwanted hair, and in most cases it also removes some dead surface cells on the skin. This might be a nice exfoliation but sometimes wax can lift away a thin layer of skin, leaving a raw or bleeding patch 🤕

Avoid waxing if you…
* have a sunburn
* have open sores / acne / HSV outbreak (aka: cold sores)
* recently had a skin procedure on your face
* use bleaching products
* use acids or peels
* take oral / topical acne medications / antibiotics
* are using retinol products
* medications that cause photosensitivity

Skin lifts can also be a risk when:
* Taking medications (Antidepressants / Anxiety medication, Contraception, Antibiotics, Skin / Acne medication as mentioned above)

* Hormonal imbalances: includes pregnancy, post pregnancy, breastfeeding, PMS (Pre-menstruation) or during menstruation.

* If you are using skin care products with active ingredients like Vitamin A / Retinol especially if purchased from a skin therapist or it is common for my clients who are using 🚩The Ordinary 🚩 skin care.

If you have a skin lift appear during your waxing service:

*I will let you know & flag it on your client card.
* If you prefer the benefits of waxing and your skin lift is small and heals quickly & easily I will continue to offer waxing services to you using sensitive wax (hard wax) that will minimise skin tears.
* If your skin tear is slow to heal, results in a dark mark and looking like you’ve hit your brow on the corner of the kitchen bench like when you were a kid - 😢 Sorry! No more waxing for you for a while!
* I will offer to use sensitive wax on the areas that don’t normally lift or I will only rebook you for tweezing services.
* You will need to use DermAid 0.5% cream (about $5-$6) from Chemist Warehouse 2 x per day using a cotton tip or freshly washed hands to help speed up the healing process & reduce the chances of a bacterial reaction.

This is just a trusty ol’ henna stain & wax and we styled the brows with 🤷‍♀️ Simple, quicker, cheaper, no harsh chemicals, lower maintenance, no aftercare serums necessary 🤔…

but it looks exactly like a brow lamination! 🤩
