Tomorrow is my last official day in the salon...

It's a really strange feeling stepping out of something that I have known and done and loved for sooo long!

The support I have honestly felt from so many of you, the gifts, the messages, the hugs... I'm so lucky to have had you all in my salon (many of you for more than 12 years).

It's bittersweet, an exciting new chapter ahead but closing a chapter with so many amazing people in it. Don't be strangers, I'll miss our chats!!

Hi to all my clients, I've tried to personally message every one of you but I apologise if I missed you. After 17 years of beauty therapy it's time for a change. I have honestly been overwhelmed by the massive support I have received in supporting my decision!!

Just want to let you know after ALOT of thought and consideration I have decided to take a new career path and step away from nails for the foreseeable future.

As you know my health has been a long concern of mine with constant sinus issues and am hoping a change will help alleviate it.

This isnt a decision I have taken lightly and understand the timing isn't great but an opportunity has come up and I need to look after myself and family.

From the bottom of my heart I thank you for supporting my business and will miss doing your nails.

As of Friday the 6th of December, end of business hours I'll be shutting my little salon doors.
Apologies to you for having to find alternative arrangements and I hope you understand why I've had to do this.

Gurllllll lemme break it down for you..

1. 'Shellac' is a gel polish line from . If you want gel polish, ask for gel polish. I personally use .australia.nz but you don't hear people saying 'can I get missu?

2. SNS is literally glue and acrylic powder.. and generally your fingers are dipped into a pot. Firstly, THERE IS NO CALCIUM! It's a load of bull and the calcium is in the cuticle oil, NOT the SNS product. Secondly, imagine all the other grimy fingers that went into that same pot before you.. fungus, unwashed hands, f***s, bits of leftover chicken.. you never know..🤷🏻‍♀️

3. Acrylic is a ratio of acrylic powder (polymer) and acrylic liquid (monomer) it should not be in a gel like form.. acrylics do NOT cause damage! Over filing does! Nail techs cause damage, NOT the product. There's also EMA and MMA acrylic.. MMA is banned from salons in Australia however many cheapo salons still use it because the health dept can't tell the difference when in use! Make sure you ask your nail tech what brand they use and do a Google search. A genuine tech shouldn't be scared to show you the packaging and MSDS sheet. Be worried if they don't.. (dodgy motherf**kers)
OH! One more thing I've learnt! There are 'reputable' salons that decanter their sh*tty MMA products in branded bottles! You wanna know who does it? Ask them to soak off the set and see the difference! MMA is sticky and hard as f**k to get off! EMA will be crumbly texture when soaked! This is why I don't infill other people's work! It's so I can see which nasty ass salons are being dodgy! 🖕

4. Hard gel is literally gel.. if you're getting some sort of gel powder or it doesn't look like a gel substance, you ain't getting gel.. Hard gels cannot be soaked off, only filed off..

PLEASE! Do your research and understand what you're paying for.. there is nothing worse than being told you charge too much in comparison to a chop shop when you're actually educated, properly trained, have practiced and constantly upskilling, are using top of the range products and are doing nails because they f**king love doing it.. Share this if this hits all the feels!! ✊

Payment at Studio Eight

Just a little note to let clients know how payment can be made at Studio Eight unless a prior arrangement has been made with myself.

*cash at the time of your appointment
*bank transfer

If you are bank transferring you will need to ensure this is done at or before your appointment. If you do not have a feature that allows your money to be instantly transferred then please transfer 24 to 48 hrs prior to your appointment so it reaches me in time for your appointment. If this causes a problem for you can I suggest allowing 15 minutes before your appointment to stop at an ATM and withdraw cash.
