The Rebozo!!

A rebozo is a traditional, handwoven Mexican shawl. Traditionally used in pregnancy, labour and postpartum.
Recently, I have been using it for my pregnancy clients who present with sore lower back and hips. It’s particularly helpful in last few weeks of pregnancy to soften the hips, and to support the baby’s optimal positioning.
I learnt a lot of new ways to use the rebozo (also known as an extension of the hands!) in my updated closing of the bones training.

✨What is a blessing way?

✨A Blessing Way is an ancient Navaho tradition of bringing love and intention to a mother-to-be, so she may enter labour and new motherhood unbridled.
It is part of the honouring of the transformation a woman goes through each time she becomes a mother.
It is about connecting this mother-to-be to her tribe of women so we may help her release any fears and prepare for birth. Whilst offering her our energy to connect to and draw upon when she needs it.

✨Activities that may be included in a blessing way:

Making a Bead necklace
Making Flower crowns
Candle / light a blessing ceremony
Massaging the mama to be
Burning of fears
Binding of wrists
Sound healing
Readings / meaningful words

✨Each Mother blessingway is unique and tailored for the Mama to be. I am intuitively guided by the energy in the group on the day, so that the Mama to be can feel the love and support around her.

✨You will be held, nurtured and honoured on your journey into Motherhood.

✨Postpartum Doula Update

All good things must come to an end, and sadly it is time to hang up my doula basket.

It has been such a beautiful + rewarding journey to support newborn mums for the last 7 years.
Supporting them as they transition into motherhood, nourishing them with lovely meals + pampering with massages/healings.

Unfortunately it’s now time for me to finish this rewarding + very sacred role.
My life has taken a little bit of a detour, where I now need to support more than just my own little family.

To be able to support my loved ones, run a massage business, raise 2 teenagers and care for myself I needed to let go of something in my life.

This has been a hard decision for me, Because I love caring for Mums and supporting them in the way they truly need to be supported in the early days of Postpartum. As I know very well how hard it is in those early days on postpartum.

I must honour what is right for me. I know I can’t hold the space that beautiful newborn mothers truly deserve.
As they deserve the presence, love and support of someone who can fully commit and be there for them. I’m not in the place to do that right now.

I want to thank all of the beautiful families I’ve worked with, and colleagues who have supported me on my postpartum doula journey.

To my past and present postpartum doula clients:

I will never forget the beautiful Mamas /families I’ve met and worked with, you’ll always have a special place in my heart..
Thank you for this beautiful opportunity to allow me to support and nourish you when you were most vulnerable.
Each and everyone one of you made me a better human and hold a special place in my heart.

I was lucky to spend a special morning with my Mum this morning for Mother’s Day. I like to do something on Mother’s Day that nourishes my soul, so off we went to a sound healing & cacao ceremony. Thank you Jessica for holding space for my mother and I.

Thank you to my beautiful kids who choose me to be their Mother and spoiling e today.

Sending love out to all Mothers, mothers to be, mothers in waiting, mothers who have experienced a loss (my heart goes out to you) and all other versions of Mothers.
