The evolution Of Hormone Replacement Therapy 💗
🌿 Did you know? HRT is now more commonly called MHT.
Over the years, our understanding of menopause has changed enormously—and so has hormone therapy. 💚
What was once known as Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) is now more accurately referred to as Menopause Hormone Therapy (MHT).
The new name reflects its true purpose: supporting women through the hormonal changes of menopause, rather than simply "replacing" hormones.
From the early discoveries of estrogen over 100 years ago to today's personalised treatment options, MHT has continued to evolve through research, evidence and a better understanding of women's health. 🌸
Today's conversations are about quality of life, informed choices and individualised care. There is no one-size-fits-all approach, and the right treatment is always a discussion between a woman and her healthcare professional. 💕
This week I'll be sharing more about the evolution of MHT, the myths, the facts, and my own personal journey.
Knowledge is empowering. 🌿✨

Every now and then you read something that stays with you long after you've finished it. 🌸💗
This powerful piece by Eloise Cansdell shines a light on a topic many of us have probably never stopped to consider – what it means to manage your period while in prison. ⭐️
Regardless of our views on the justice system, menstrual health is a basic human need.
Dignity, access to hygiene products, and compassionate healthcare should never be taken for granted.
Women's health doesn't stop at the prison gates. Conversations like these remind us that there are still many invisible challenges women face, and that awareness is the first step towards meaningful change.
I encourage you to take a few minutes to read Eloise's article with an open mind. Whether it challenges your perspective or reinforces what you already believe, it's an important conversation worth having.
Thank you, Eloise, for using your voice to bring attention to an issue that is so often overlooked. 💛

One of the biggest myths I hear is...
"I have a prolapse, so I can't lift weights anymore."
The truth is, strength training itself doesn't automatically cause or worsen a prolapse. In fact, maintaining muscle strength is incredibly important as we age—especially during and after menopause.
The key is learning how to lift.
Breathing, technique, posture and gradually building your strength all play an important role in managing pressure through your abdomen and pelvic floor.
Strength training can help us maintain muscle, protect our bones, improve balance, support healthy ageing and help us continue doing the things we love.
If you're experiencing pelvic heaviness, pressure or prolapse symptoms, don't stop exercising because you're scared.
Instead, seek advice from a Women's Health Physiotherapist who can assess you individually and guide you on the safest and most effective way to continue exercising.
Movement is medicine.
Knowledge is power.
And strong women deserve to feel confident in the gym. 💗

🌸 Let's talk about something we don't talk about enough... our bowels. 🌸
When most people think about pelvic floor health, they think about bladder leaks.
But did you know that bowel health and your pelvic floor are closely connected?
A weakened pelvic floor can make it more difficult to empty your bowels properly. You may find yourself straining, feeling like you haven't completely emptied your bowel, or needing to change position on the toilet to finish.
The problem is that repeated straining creates even more pressure on the pelvic floor, which can contribute to or worsen a prolapse over time.
💗 A healthy bowel routine is one of the best ways to protect your pelvic floor.
A few simple habits can make a big difference:
✔ Drink plenty of water.
✔ Eat enough fibre from whole foods.
✔ Don't ignore the urge to go.
✔ Avoid prolonged straining.
✔ Consider using a small footstool to bring your knees above your hips when on the toilet—this can help the bowel empty more naturally.
✔ Keep your pelvic floor and deep core muscles strong.
If you're experiencing constipation, a feeling of heaviness, difficulty emptying your bowels, or a sensation that something is "coming down," please don't assume it's just part of getting older.
These symptoms are common—but they are not something you simply have to live with.
A Women's Health Physiotherapist can assess what's happening, and the right combination of education, breathing, movement and pelvic floor exercises can make a real difference.
Let's keep having these conversations. The more we talk, the more women realise they're not alone. 💕🌿

Let's Talk Intimacy 🤍
This might be one of the most important conversations we don't have.
When we're younger, intimacy often feels effortless. Then life unfolds.
Careers.
Children.
Businesses.
Caring for parents.
Hormonal changes.
Menopause.
The mental load of simply keeping everyone else's world turning.
For many women, it's not that love disappears.
It's that they become exhausted.
Disconnected from themselves.
Unsure why they no longer feel the way they once did.
What if intimacy isn't just about s*x?
What if it's about feeling seen...
Feeling heard...
Feeling emotionally safe...
Feeling like someone still notices the woman you've become.
Menopause can change our hormones, our confidence, our body image and our desire. That doesn't mean you're broken, and it doesn't mean your relationship is over. It simply means you're in a new season that may call for different conversations, deeper understanding and more compassion—for yourself and for each other.
The healthiest relationships aren't built on passion alone.
They're built on friendship.
Trust.
Laughter.
Kindness.
Curiosity.
And choosing one another, over and over again.
If this resonates with you, know you're not alone. It's a conversation worth having.
