“I don’t work over another tech’s work“

So every new client gets a full soak off….

Sometimes that’s the right decision ✅

Buttttt if the base is stable and all lifting has been removed, why remove a healthy protective layer of old product as well?

I still want to check the health of the natural nail, and I still want every bit of lifting gone

I simply don’t see the benefit in repeatedly filing the same part of natural nail that got filed / buffed last time if I don’t need to.

In most cases, I remove around 80-85% of the product, leaving a thin protective layer behind.

The goal isn’t removing everything.

The goal is knowing what needs to go and having the confidence to remove it safely

That’s one of the biggest things I see when nail techs learn to use an e-file confidently ⭐️

YOU DON’T NEED TEN THOUSAND E-FILE BITS!!!!

When my student arrived with 2 big boxes of Efile bits instantly in my head I was thinking ‘ I’d bin half of them’ 🗑️🚮🫣

I also got caught up with marketing when I first got efile trained thinking I need everything that I saw online ( to be fair I still also own boxes and boxes of efile bits 😂)

By the end of the 1:1 we simplified her prep routine and she fully understood exactly what and why she was using them

Look at the results 🩷

Yes you can buy another bit hoping that its the magic pill to clean prep but it will make no difference if you don’t fully understand it or have the confidence to use it

The goal isn’t more stuff it’s MORE SKILL

La Finish File 🇫🇷

Filing at the very end of the mani - I’ve been doing this for years and not once has it negatively impacted a manicure or caused lifting/chipping

Note - I would only recommend it when you have a structured base of some sort, BIAB, hard gel etc

It actually strengthens the free edge area up! Plus makes your mani look clean and expensiveeeee 🤑

I use a nice thin file to really get in there 💪🏻 (this file was a little thick to be fair, but it did the job)

I can’t understand why everyone doesn’t do it?!? Takes 2 secs! *maybe a bit longer*

She chose BIAB for the colour 🙈

But it’s not what her nails needed! BIAB couldn’t give her the strength! She’s a busy mum, heavy handed and is washing and sanitising her hands all day

All of that combination = broken nail

(We had been doing hard gel previously and no issues!)

Luckily I know a super quick fix to mend a broken nail 👌🏻🥇 and it doesn’t require faffing around customising paper forms
