LANA RENEE Hello Beautiful People!! Lots of love,

One thing I’ve learnt after 20 years of doing makeup… more product does not always mean better makeup!

And this is absolutely no shame to other artists because every artist has their own style and techniques — but one thing I personally never understood is the obsession with layering powders, baking and constantly touching up already powdered makeup throughout the night.

To me, makeup should still look and feel like skin.

I’ve never been a heavy powder makeup artist and not once in 20 years has a client ever told me their makeup didn’t last.

This beautiful bride came to me after having a trial elsewhere where her makeup was done at 4:30pm and unfortunately didn’t hold up through the evening — and her biggest concern was how oily her skin is.

Most people would instantly reach for even MORE powders to try combat the oil… but I simply stuck to what I know works.

Good skin prep.
Good products.
Correct application.
And makeup that moves WITH the skin, not sits heavily on top of it.

Getting this message from her honestly meant so much to me because long-lasting makeup doesn’t have to feel cakey, dry or overly layered to work 🤍

Telethon is here next week!! Who’s excited!

At the beginning of this year, I signed up for a “How to Be a 6 Figure Makeup Artist” program run by a very successful artist in America. She’s incredibly talented, and her business is thriving.

It was a big investment, and the program focused heavily on social media — how to grow, how to keep up with the trends, and how to attract attention in a world where word of mouth apparently “no longer exists.” The emphasis was on aesthetics, perfection, and, of course… pretty faces.

But as I went through it, something in me just didn’t sit right. I ended up pulling out of the contract, because I realised this path wasn’t true to who I am or the work I want to put into the world.

Yes, beautiful people and polished images get attention on social media — but that’s not the only clientele I want to serve, and that’s not the kind of impact I want to make.

My passion has always been with the everyday woman. The mums, the professionals, the women who don’t always see themselves represented in beauty campaigns. The women who want to feel beautiful in their own skin, not compared to an impossible standard.

I don’t want to spend my energy chasing models who are already “Instagram pretty.” Just to make content, They’re beautiful, and they’ll always have a place in this industry, but my work is about something deeper.

I want to bring makeup back to what it’s really about: confidence, empowerment, and authenticity.
Because life is already hard enough for everyday women — and I believe makeup should be a tool that makes them feel stronger, brighter, and more themselves.

This year, I’ve made it my mission to change the way beauty shows up on social media. Less “perfect,” more real.
Less comparison, more confidence.
Less “you’re not enough,” more you already are.

Here’s to celebrating real beauty for real women. 💄✨

And today, after speaking with one of my longtime clients — a woman who radiates beauty from the inside out — I’ve made a decision. I’m no longer going to stress about what social media “expects” or only post the most polished images of the most conventionally beautiful faces. From now on, I’ll be sharing everyone. I’ll be taking the time to capture and celebrate women who don’t fit the so-called “Instagram perfect” mould — because they deserve to be seen, appreciated, and celebrated just as much.

💌 If you’re an everyday woman who wants to feel confident, radiant, and truly beautiful in your own skin — I’d love to welcome you into my chair. Follow along for real transformations, real stories, and real beauty.
