I identified a gap in the Australian market that nobody had filled.

Professional salon grade haircare made specifically for children. Not adult products repackaged. Not imported formulas. Something built here, by someone who actually understood the problem from the inside.

I am a hairstylist with decades of chair time. I had watched parents come into salons for years using the wrong products on their kids hair and wondering why it was always a battle.

So I started running daddy daughter hair workshops out of my home salon in Perth. Teaching dads the basics. Detangling. Plaits. Buns. Ponytails. Building confidence in parents who just wanted to show up for their kids.

In 2016 the market validated what I already knew.
Channel 9 showed up. Then Today Tonight. Then The West Australian ran a feature that reached 135,000 views. Three separate editorial teams made the same call independently. This problem was real and someone was finally addressing it.

That someone was me.
I took that validation and built MopTops Haircare from the ground up. One product at a time. Starting with Knots Be Gone, our hero detangler, and growing to ten Australian made salon grade products.

There is still no comparable professional Australian made kids haircare range of this scale in this country.
Built in Perth. Still here. Still growing.

The gap I saw in that salon chair decades ago became the business I refused to stop building.

A dad sat down at one of my workshops, brush in hand, and I could already see the problem before he touched his daughter’s hair.

Is kids hair actually different to adult hair, or can you just use your own shampoo on them?
Yes. And the difference matters more than most people realise.
I picked up his little girl’s hair and it felt like straw. She was four years old. Dry, frizzy, knotted from root to tip. He had been using the family shampoo on her for years, genuinely trying his best.

The product was the problem. Not him.
