Let’s focus on stretching and controlled breathing. Coming into the Christmas period and how busy everyone is getting I’m finding with patients they are forgetting to stop and stretch or take a minute to do some controlled breathing.

This poster is amazing - focus on one line of stretches each day and repeat 4 times a day 10-15 minute. Always do a new line of stretches each day allowing you to cover the full body.

As for breathing stop what your doing for 10 minutes and allow your chest to relax and put all your force through your belly. Try to focus on big deep breaths rather then small movements - small movements won’t allow our lungs to be in full use and can create problems with our posture and create sore muscles etc. Do these big deep breathes morning and night 5-6 times a day.

Will help you to refocus on whatever your doing, work, school, studying work or helping the kids etc. At night this will allow your mind to switch off and give you a peaceful sleep ✨

‼️ Let’s Talk About Stress ‼️

Stress is the biggest cause of posture changes, muscles aches, tension, headaches and so much more.

I was getting crazy nerve pain in my jaw thinking I had a tooth problem - turns out my TMJ (Temporomandibular joint) was locked up, due to my clenching and grinding caused by my stress and anxiety.

Dry needling helped with my jaw pain, massage helped with my upper body and neck issues.

My neck, shoulders where completely out. All the stress I put myself in I shrugged my shoulder, rolled my posture forward and dropped my neck forward! All the major ❌ with your body.

What I’m trying to say is - look after your posture. If you’re feeling stressed take a minute to breath and control your emotions. Don’t put your body through the hard yards and end up with issues like this.

Try meditation or yoga when your start to feel on edge and things are getting to much, I have an app called “rain” and I listen to that when I am over tired or just way to anxious and it helps me so much.

We only have one body! Make the most of it and keep it fresh and healthy 🔆

POSTURE

This is how we find ourselves sitting (left picture) and we actually should be sitting like (right picture) or at least try to

We find ourselves hunch over the computer at work, driving, house work or sluggish by the end of the day and we are putting so much strain through our spine and the muscles around.

Working through our posterior chain will help make us look that little bit taller, naturally roll our shoulders back & draw our head nice and tall

🦵 Movement will help to keep our posterior chain nice and tall, walking, yoga, Pilates are just some of the movements we can do to help keep our posture nice and strong.

🦵 Reminder on your phone to get up and move around if we are still working from home or at the office. Stop what your doing move around, incorporate some stretches then get back into work

🦵 Using some rock tape and tapping an X from one shoulder to lower back and on the other side. This will help to remind you to life your shoulders up if your slouching at work. Won’t fix the issue but will help not being in an awkward position for hours

🦵 Foam roller & stretching through your chest and mid back, will help lengthen the muscles and take away any pain or pressure through the body
