What can I say? Life changing, but in a good way! After entering menopause (also life changing) your body feels like it’s betraying you. If the hot sweats, insomnia and weight gain weren’t enough, I started losing hair. Not all at once, but slowly. Slowly degrading my confidence even further. Saying no to leaving the house, saying no to events. Hiding. I’ve been in hiding. I’ve seen doctors, bought all the products and nothing was going to make me feel good in a hurry. These protocols would take years to be noticeable, and I was so sick of hiding! I happened across Nicole’s add on Facebook and one picture resonated with me. It resonated enough for me to reach out. I was so out of love with myself and my hair, I didn’t dare believe that anything could help me. I thought my fine, thin hair wouldn’t be suitable. But I reached out anyway. Right from the first message, I could feel Nicole’s understanding about my situation and she offered to meet me, even if she was going to tell me I wasn’t a candidate, I was appreciative of her time. As we were discussing the options I was made so aware of how much I had disliked myself. And I cried. You can’t hide hair loss and I was honestly floored by my reaction. Nicole, from the very first moment, put me at ease. She worked really hard to get the right colours for me and during install we laughed, we cried. She was as invested in the outcome as I was. I wasn’t a number. I was a human who had the right to feel comfortable in their own skin. As we were finishing, emotions once again bubbled in me as I could see the woman I used to be. And boy, have I missed her! Nicole and I were both crying, both thrilled and the other salon staff made me feel like a queen. I can’t believe how amazing it looks and I can’t believe how quickly the beliefs we have about ourselves can absolve, seemingly in an instant. The reaction of my family has been absolute gold (I am a lucky lady there!) but nothing compares to how good I FEEL. It’s been a while since I’ve looked in the mirror and liked what I saw. Thank you doesn’t seem adequate Nicole, but from the bottom of my heart, thank you a million times. Thank you for your magic fingers, thank you for your insane attention to detail and thank you for actually “seeing” the real me.
