Motherhood is devotion but so is self-care.
I used to believe being a good mum meant giving everything and leaving nothing for me.
But I have learned something deeper, something truer.
When I slow down, when I care for myself, when I choose rest, joy, and space to breathe, I am not taking away from them, I am giving more.
Because a nurtured mother raises nurtured children.
This certainly does not mean I am a perfect mum 100 percent of the time. I am not a perfectly regulated mum every single moment. But I am aware of my emotions and my triggers, and I can notice them. Then I begin to listen within to what I need to reset and nourish my nervous system 💛

A Mother’s Day Yoga Experience
I’m Rosa from Sunshine State of Mind Yoga, and I’m creating a gentle, nourishing space for you to reconnect with yourself, to move slowly, and to rest deeply in the company of other mothers.
We’ll begin with warm tea, move through a gentle flow into grounding yin, and close with a nourishing snack and time to connect with other mums.

A big, heartfelt thank you to our little yogis and their amazing parents and grandparents who came along yesterday to our first kids yoga session 💛
Sharing yoga with these joyful, kind, and inspiring little humans is always such a privilege. There was so much joy, movement, and magic on the mat, it truly filled my heart.
A huge shoutout to Sam for inviting me to share my love for yoga with this beautiful community. I’m so grateful to be a part of it 🧘♂️✨

✨ Let’s bust a common myth about kids yoga… ✨
So many parents tell me, “I’d love to bring my child, but they won’t sit still or be quiet.”
And my response is always the same… that’s PERFECT.
Kids yoga and mindfulness is not about staying glued to a mat in silence.
It’s about movement, exploration, energy and expression.
In our sessions:
🌈 Kids move their bodies freely
🧸 Props help us stretch, crawl, balance and play
🎶 There’s music that matches our breath and movement
😂 There’s chatter, laughter and sometimes joyful noise
⚡ Energetic movement is encouraged — not corrected
Sometimes it’s loud.
Sometimes it’s messy.
Sometimes it’s full of giggles.
And that’s exactly how it should be.
If we find a little moment of stillness or quiet at the end — bonus.
If we don’t, that’s ok, we meet the kids right where they are and work with their energy.
So please don’t think your child needs to be calm, quiet or “good at yoga” to join us.
They just need to be themselves. 💛

🌞 Where Teaching Meets Mindfulness – My journey so far 🌞 Teaching has always been close to my heart. For over 11 years, I’ve had the joy of guiding young learners — and more recently, leading my own children on their journey of growth and discovery. But my journey took on new meaning when I became a mother to two beautiful children. It was during this chapter that I truly discovered the power of yoga as a form of self-care. With the demands of motherhood, I needed something to help me stay grounded, calm, and connected to myself. Yoga became my refuge — a gentle, transformative practice that has since made such a positive impact on my life.
I knew I had to share this gift with my own children, and with the wider community. I believe that teaching our kids mindfulness and well-being practices not only supports their current wellbeing but also sets the foundation for a healthy, balanced future.
In my journey, I’ve completed my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at Summer Healing, 30-hour Yin Yoga training with , and 50-hour Kids Yoga certifications with . I also recently became a facilitator. These experiences have deepened my passion for creating calm, connected spaces that nurture the wellbeing of children and adults alike. This passion led to the creation of Sunshine State of Mind Yoga, based in Rowville (6 Laser Drive). I offer: ✨ Weekly yoga and mindfulness classes for adults and children

🎃 Spooky Yoga Fun for Halloween! 🎃
Looking to bring some Halloween magic into your yoga or movement practice? Here are some spooktacular ideas to get into the Halloween spirit with mindfulness, movement, and a lot of giggles!
✨ 1. Start with Stillness:
Begin or end your session with a calming Tritaka Candle Meditation. Focus your attention on the flickering flame and let go of any spooky distractions.
🎶 2. Warm Up with Movement:
Get the energy flowing with a Halloween Freeze Dance!(Spotify has loads of versions!)
👻 3. Play a Game:
How low can you go? Try Devil’s Hook Limbo for some silly fun while stretching and bending.
🎃 4. Yoga Shapes:
Pass the pumpkin! When the music pauses, whoever holds the pumpkin shares their Halloween costume and leads the group in a fun pose.
🍂 5. Spooky Movements:
Move like a:
Spider 🕷
Black cat 🖤
Witch 🧙♀️
Monster 👹
Ghost 👻
Frankenstein 💀
Let each move bring out the spookiness and creativity in everyone!
🌬️ 6. Monster Breath/Spider Breathing:
Blow through a straw to move a little plastic spider around—deep breaths for calming, lots of giggles for fun!
🎉 7. Haunted House Story with Yoga Poses:
Create a haunted house using your bodies! For example, a “monster” pose could be a strong warrior, or a “ghost” could be a quiet child’s pose.
👻 8. Finish with Stillness:
End with a spooky Ghost Detector game: One “ghost” walks around, while others sit quietly. If they detect the ghost, they say “There’s a ghost behind me!” and stay seated. If they’re wrong, they become the new ghost!

🧘 Kids Yoga & Mindfulness – 4-Week Program 🌟
Tuesdays After School | 4:30 – 5:15 PM
Support your child’s wellbeing with this playful and purposeful after-school program designed to build calm, confidence, and connection.
Over 4 weeks, kids will explore:
🌈 Yoga and movement
🌈 Mindfulness and breathing techniques
🌈 Gratitude and empathy
🌈 Emotional literacy and self-awareness
🌈 Affirmations to promote positive self talk
Each session blends fun activities with meaningful tools to help children feel more grounded, focused, and connected — both inside and out.
