🌟 What inspired you to pursue a career in the hair industry?
When I was about 15 I was a huge fan of David Bowie, and the only place I could get a David Bowie haircut was at this really cool Salon in Edinburgh. I loved my experience there, so when they asked if I wanted to be a Saturday junior, I jumped at the opportunity because it was such a cool place to be. ✂
🌟 One piece of advice for someone starting out in hairdressing?
If you’re creative, love people, you don’t mind a little bit of hard work, and you want a job that’s really rewarding and fun, become a hairdresser. ☑
🌟 What’s your go-to song or playlist that gets you in the zone while working in the salon?
We love chilled, contemporary music that creates a relaxed atmosphere for both clients and the team. Everyone contributes to our playlists, so they're always fresh and motivating. Clients regularly comment on how much they enjoy the music, and for us, a great sound system is just as important as great salon design! 🎵✨
🌟 Fun fact people might not know?
I played in rock bands throughout the 80s and 90s. I also build electric guitars because my wife says I can’t buy any more. 🎸
🌟 Top tip to stay motivated during busy or tough times?
Start the day on a positive note. My secret is I always try and book my favourite clients in first thing so it sets me up for the the rest of the day. 👏
🌟 If you could style any celebrity's hair for a day, who would it be?
Charlize Theron. She suits every single haircut she’s ever had. 😎
🌟 What do you know now that you wish you’d known earlier?
You always know more about hair than your clients do. 💯
🌟 What key lesson have you learnt that transformed your business or mindset?
Stay positive, create good vibes, and give your staff and clients a great environment to be in. ✔️
🌟 What do you love about being part of AHC?
Just having people to talk to and share ideas with, it’s so important in our industry. The AHC provides that. 🙌
