One of the most common questions I get is: “Why is my hair going grey, and why does it always seem to start around my hairline?”

Here’s what actually happens:

🩶 Hair gets its colour from melanin, a pigment produced by specialised cells called melanocytes inside the hair follicle.

As we age, these cells gradually slow down and produce less pigment. Eventually, they stop producing colour altogether, and the new hair grows in grey, silver, or white.

So why does grey often appear around the hairline first?

The hairline is one of the areas most exposed to:
