While I love bridesmaids whose number one priority is thinking about what the bride wants, I can almost guarantee that what she wants is for her girls to feel their best too.

Of course we want everyone’s makeup to complement the bride’s vision for the day, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for individual preferences.

Plus, having an idea of what you like takes one more decision off the bride’s plate on a morning when decision fatigue is probably peaking.

The bride might be the one who booked me, but every single person in my chair is my client. I want you to feel comfortable telling me what you like, what you don’t, and asking for changes if something isn’t quite right.

Because being a bridesmaid doesn’t mean settling for makeup you don’t absolutely love 🤍

Em came to her makeup trial with a very clear vision in mind, and based on our consultation at the trial, I could tell she was makeup literate, so I didn’t question or challenge her vision.

We both agreed after seeing the vision come to life at her trial, that although the look was lovely, a different look would be better.

And full credit to Em: I’m so grateful that she put all her faith and trust in me on the day - we didn’t do a second trial, we didn’t really even talk before the day in too much detail about the changes we wanted to make from the trial - Em just let me create something that I thought would suit her features best, and that complemented what I’d already done on her bridesmaids, and the end result was so satisfying 😍

For Liz’s day, we trialled a really understated, natural makeup look, but on the day we decided to add just a touch more - more eye definition, more lash, and a bit more foundation coverage.

We also talked about how Liz has never found a lip colour that she really loves (which is so common!) and after playing around with a rosy pink MAC liner and lippy on the day, we took it off and landed on this subtle lip liner and tinted gloss combo instead. The gloss had a hint of brown to it, pairing perfectly with Liz’s brown bridesmaid dresses and neutral colour scheme.
