Some would say we’ve been a little lazy announcing it.
We’d say we’ve been working with Plathy to time it to perfection.

For us, Max’s investment was never just about capital. It was about bringing someone into the business who believes in what we’re building, understands the mission, and has a brand and network that can help us get Naturally Cooked into the hands of more people who need it most.

We sat down with Max this week to chat through why he invested, what he saw in the business and why sun safety matters. We’ll be releasing that video later in the week on our Instagram.

For now, we just want to say congratulations on being selected in the Queensland Game II team, and thank you for backing us 16 months ago.

Welcome to winter.

We’ve had a massive couple of months and couldn’t be happier with where the business is at as we head into our off-season.

We’ve got a few national retail rollouts lined up for spring, terms agreed with two of Australia’s largest outdoor workforces and a new SKU on the way.

While things are cooling down, we can assure you we’re working on some really exciting opportunities behind the scenes. Opportunities that we believe will help make Naturally Cooked a household name and continue our mission of getting more Australians taking sun safety seriously.

It’s not lost on us how crazy this journey has been. In just over two years, we’ve grown from an idea between mates to a brand stocked right across the country.

We wouldn’t be here without all of you.

Whether you’ve bought a tube, stocked our sunscreen, told a mate about us or simply followed along and engaged with our content, thank you. Your support means more than you’ll ever know.

We’ve hit a bit of content fatigue over winter, but we’re using it as a chance to reset how we show up online.

We’ll keep sharing the business journey, but we also want to start bringing in industry experts to help educate properly around sun safety, skin cancer and outdoor work.

YUKA APP RESPONSE

Over the past few weeks, we’ve had a number of conversations with stockists, customers and businesses about the Yuka App and the way sunscreen products are rated. Rather than avoid the conversation, we wanted to address it properly.

We think it’s a good thing that people are sceptical about what they put on their skin or in their body. That matters. But when it comes to sunscreen, especially in Australia, we also think it’s important to look at app ratings with context.

After reviewing peer-reviewed articles and speaking with medical professionals, the TGA and Yuka themselves, we wanted to share what we’ve found and explain why these ratings can be misleading when used as the sole measure of whether a sunscreen is safe or effective.

At the end of the day, we started Naturally Cooked after identifying a confronting issue: men in Australia are killed by skin cancer at twice the rate of women, yet wear sunscreen roughly half as often. Outdoor workers and tradies make up a huge part of that conversation.

So we set out to create a sunscreen that was built for them — SPF50+, Australian made, non-greasy, fast absorbing and ultimately something that feels like you’re not wearing sunscreen.

We’ve been blown away by the support from day one, and we felt it was important to be open with you all about this.
