🌿 Burdock Leaf – Nature's Skin & Lymphatic Ally 🌿
Burdock leaf has been traditionally used to support healthy skin, lymphatic function and the body's natural elimination processes.
Rich in beneficial plant compounds, it has long been valued for helping to soothe irritated skin, calm inflammation and support overall wellness from the inside out.
It is often used in herbal preparations for skin conditions, fluid stagnation and general detoxification support.
Burdock leaf can be enjoyed as a tea, made into a tincture, infused into oils, or applied externally as a fresh poultice.
Fresh leaves can be crushed and placed directly onto insect bites, rashes, sore joints and irritated skin to help soothe discomfort.
Whether used internally or externally, burdock leaf is a versatile herb with a long history of use in traditional herbal medicine. 🌿💚

🌿🌼To inspire means to fill someone with the desire, confidence, or enthusiasm to create, achieve or act.
❤️ One of my favourite parts of running these workshops is watching people see plants differently, and then seeing the inspiration they take home to create something new for their themselves, their family or businesses. 🙂
🌱So much of the old knowledge around herbs and edible weeds has been forgotten over time, yet many of these plants are still growing right outside our homes.
What was once everyday knowledge is becoming valuable again and that makes sharing the uses of herbs, the stories behind them, and showing that some of the "weeds" we pull out of the garden can be both food and medicine is humbling and rewarding. ❤️
Every workshop is a chance to learn, share, ask questions, and reconnect with the plants around us. 🌱
🕸🕷 🚨Redback Spider (Latrodectus hasselti)
🤔 When you're gently reminded to not stick your hand into an unknown web inside the bird bath....and then you pull out a glorious female Redback spider....😳
Happy to not get bitten today! 😁
🦋 Magpie Moth & Its Host Plants 🌿
The striking Magpie Moth (Nyctemera amica) is a native Australian tiger moth recognised by its bold black-and-white patterned wings.
While the adults feed on nectar, the caterpillars commonly feed on plants in the daisy family, including Thickhead (Crassocephalum crepidioides) and Lilac Tasselflower (Emilia sonchifolia) as seen in the video.
While many gardeners see caterpillars as pests, these fascinating insects are an important part of the ecosystem, helping support native biodiversity and providing food for birds and other wildlife.
A great reminder that even the "weeds" in our gardens can play an important role in nature! 🌿🐛🦋
🌿💜🍈 PASSIONFRUIT
Did you know that boiled passionfruit skins have a long history of traditional use and contain a surprising amount of beneficial plant compounds — especially in the purple passionfruit rind!
While they’re usually discarded, the skins are rich in:
🌿 Pectin & soluble fibre — soothing for digestion and may help support healthy cholesterol and blood sugar balance.
🌱 Polyphenols & antioxidants — particularly flavonoids that help protect cells from oxidative stress.
💜 Passionflower-related calming compounds — mild relaxing/nervous system supportive effects are sometimes noted from the rind and inner white pith.
Anti-inflammatory compounds — traditionally used for gut irritation and general inflammation support.
Natural bitterness — can stimulate digestion and bile flow.
Boiled passionfruit skins have been used as:
🌿A calming evening tea
🌿A digestive tonic
🌿A mild cough or throat soothing drink
🌿A way to extract pectin for jams, syrups and herbal desserts. 💜🍈
A simple preparation:
Wash skins well.
Chop the shells and white pith.
Simmer gently 20–40 minutes.
Strain and sweeten if desired.
The white inner pith usually contains more useful compounds than the hard outer coloured layer.
A few cautions:
Only use unsprayed or organic fruit if possible.
The outer rind can be quite bitter and strong.
Large amounts may cause upset stomach.
