Five years ago. FIVE YEARS.
Five years ago, my whole life changed. My beautiful Dad passed away unexpectedly, with no time to prepare for the loss he would leave in my life. And even now, five years on, that shock hasn’t left me. It just shows up differently. It creeps in quietly, in the moments you least expect it, a song, a smell, a memory, a simple thought of “I should call Dad.” And in that split second, it all hits again.

So much has happened in these five years. So many times I’ve wanted to call him, to pop over, to hear his voice, to feel that comfort only he could give.

They say time heals all wounds, and in part, that is true. But it’s not that you heal. You just get better at living with the grief. You get up, you get dressed, you go to work. You go out for dinner, celebrate birthdays, Christmas, Easter. You watch your kids play sport. You sit with friends and laugh and smile. You live your life. And even in those happy moments, there is always that quiet ache. That sorrow that never really leaves. It lingers, every single day.

So it’s not that your heart ever truly heals. You just get better at carrying the pain.

He was so special, unlike any man I’ve ever known. Loved by everyone who had the honour of meeting him. Bigger than life. A man who loved his family more than anything, especially Bill Biggs Deborah Biggs , the love of his life, and the Biggslets, my beautiful sister's.

He could make you smile no matter the circumstance. Make you laugh when all you wanted to do was cry. He had this rare gift of making you feel important, seen, special.

And five years on, I still don’t know how to live my life without him. I still don’t know how to be without him. I still miss his presence. Miss his voice. Miss him.

My beautiful Dad I can’t put into words how much I love you, how much you mean to me. I adore you, Dad. Burger head. Tara Bigg. Your biggest brat.

Life is that much duller without you.

Five years without you… and I still miss you just as deeply. A truly beautiful soul. What a honour to be your daughter. ❤️💔

Deep friendships offer solace during hard times and laugh til your face hurts happiness other times. Each friend represents a world in us, a world not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born. Anything is possible when you have the right people there to support you. Someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are. I am blessed with truly inspirational women in my life. Family and Friends. Women who mean the world to me, shaped me and continue to teach me.

Happy 40th Birthday to my best friend.

Where do I even begin? We’ve lived so much life together. Through the highest highs and the moments that broke us open, through the loss of my Dad, through watching our children grow from little ones into adults, through laughter, tears, and everything in between. You have been there. Always. Steady, loving, strong, and real.

So many memories, so many shared moments, so much history that lives in my heart. When I look back, some of the most meaningful chapters of my life include you. And when I look forward, I can’t wait for all that’s still to come, the celebrating, the growing, the adventures, the quiet talks, the laughter that leaves us breathless.

You are one of the most incredible women I have ever known. Your strength, your heart, your loyalty, your ability to love so deeply, it’s rare, and it’s a gift to everyone lucky enough to know you. Especially me.
