These are the nerves that branch out from our spinal cord.
We have a total of 31 pairs: 8 cervical, 12 thoracic, 5 lumbar, 5 sacral, and 1 coccygeal.
They perform the remarkable task of carrying motor, sensory, and autonomic signals between the spinal cord and the rest of the body.
The human body is, without question, a breathtaking masterpiece of Creation of God.

How is it June 30 already!
Once again the first half of the year has been busy… but it’s been different 🙃
Usually January I work TDU as a responder and then roll straight through to the Adelaide Fringe Festival.
Little did I know that at the start of TDU we’d get notice of the company changing hands which then inevitably forced me to make the decision to part ways a few weeks later.
This was definitely not on my bingo card… it’s been the best for now but I definatley miss it.
Junior Nationals was amazing, and where I was really able to showcase with my pre-hospital emergency care with our South Australian team. I have made some great connections, got to be apart of some really special moments… and I think Junior Nationals will be on my calendar every February!!
I got to get amongst the A-League again- not as much as I would’ve liked with coaching on Fridays- but enjoyed it.
And that was the same with Gather Round- did a couple of teams but not as many as the year before.
Seated Massage has become a fortnightly addition during the quieter months… it’s been a nice change and keeps my dairy full.
I have a few things in the pipeline for the end of the year… but right now I just want to take in what I’ve accomplished and say thankyou to everyone who’s been apart of it thus far

Wow, how’s this for a throwback?
This was the re-trial for the Tokyo Olympics.
Athletes had already trialled in 2019 for their spot… then Covid hit!
Everything came to a standstill and then the following year athletes had to re-trial for their spot. This was when many new athletes got to have a breakthrough and start their Olympic journey and others sadly didn’t keep their spot and didn’t get to go.
I was working with Victorian team which added a whole another level as many of the athletes were coming out of hotspots or had an interrupted prep due to long lockdowns.
One of my athletes was a butterfly swimmer and spent many hours in a swimspa on a tether doing his training.
Hopefully the Olympic swimming trials will come back to Adelaide and I’ll have another opportunity to get back poolside

As someone who’s been working for teams each Gather Round, I’m super pumped to see this extension length!
Gather Round locked in until at least 2029 🔒

Go the other direction…… I’ve said it before haven’t I!!!
Well… here I go again…. Lead with the other leg 🦵
Achilles tendinopathy pretty much gone or at least it’s not as noticeable…. However I still keep favoring my right leg.
Like on these box jumps… I can do them, and with speed and power but do you think I can step down with my left leg between each rep?!?! Nope… not without a really considered conscious thought.
I naturally go right.
In injury rehab, this is bad. This means I’m not there yet. My brain has learnt to use the right- to compensate. Use instead. Use because it’s stronger.
So whilst I’m moving around pain free and back on the netball court.. I’m still not there yet 😑

Ok so you have a 10-12 yr old and it’s SAPSASA everything atm… and they’re constantly growing… AND now complaining their knees hurt?!? Or their feet… or both!
I’m seeing it with my kids, their friends and the kids I coach.
They have their normal sport load and now all of the triad and carnivals on top of it.
Sudden increase in volume and/of repetitive load combined with normal growing patterns is what’s causing havoc.
Are they stretching when they get home, are they icing their sore joints… could they rest a little more at lunch time?
Make adjustments here first and then see if there’s improvement?
If no improvement, it might be time to pull back training and mention it to the coach- still go to training but they don’t run to do the high intensity stuff.
* with my netball team, they become a passer or a body… still very useful and training is not a waste*
This reduction could be all they need?!?!
However, if with all of this and it’s still not getting better, go get it checked by someone who knows what they’re looking at.
Remember, a little bit of rest and exercise modification won’t be as bad as an injury that has them out for weeks or months.
(Check out Harvey’s face 😆 This is an old pic but I had to use it as he used to hate stretching. Now he still doesn’t love it but feels better for it)

Fellow therapists come join me with doing my joint therapeutics…
I have to admit I am doing this course again just as I feel very competent in some areas and lack confidence in others so why not do it again when they come into Adelaide?!?
Anyone keen to join?
