Not long ago, new Indomitable Lions striker EMMANUEL MAHOP was a goalkeeper!!
Emmanuel Mahop burst onto the scene in 2018 at Fovu as one of the finest goalkeepers in the Elite One.
He then earned a move to Equatoguinean Division 2 club Hafia. In their bid to gain promotion to the 1st division, the club was in need of a goal poacher. Their search was in vain and up stepped Emmanuel Mahop. The Cameroonian expressed the earnest wish to play upfront and the club decided to give it a try. Behold, he banged in 33 goals in just 15 games, propelling the club to the first division and finishing top scorer of the second division.
From then, he didn't look back. He signed for FC Akonagui where he netted a further 24 in 22 games from a period from 2019 to 2020.
Fast forward to 2023 and 28-year-old Mahop is currently leading the scoring charts in the MTN Elite One with Canon, and has earned his first-ever call-up to the senior men's national team.
It's never too late, really!

CAF pays tribute to Vincent Aboubakar with this breathtaking image, writing:
"๐๐ก๐๐ญ lobbed finish.
๐๐ก๐๐ญ exquisite header.
๐๐ก๐๐ญ historic result.
๐๐ก๐๐ญ dramatic red card.
Vincent Aboubakar will forever be part of FIFA World Cup history."
The World Cup in Qatar ends this month. Seven of the eight stadiums hosting the World Cup games were built from scratch for the tournament.
Six of the seven new stadiums will have about half their seats taken up afterwards and sent to developing countries while a seventh will be dismantled. Only one will be the home ground for a football team afterwards.
๐ทThe Khalifa International Stadium which was built 1976 will be the only World Cup stadium that will not being partially or fully dismantled afterwards.
๐ทThe Lusail Stadium will have most of the seats removed. It will become a community hub of schools, shops, health clinics and sporting facilities under the stadium's roof. Remaining upper-tier seating will become part of outdoor terraces for new homes.
๐ทThe upper tier of seats of the Al Bayt Stadium will be removed after the World Cup, taking capacity to below 32,000 and given to developing nations. A five-star hotel and shopping centre will be opened in the stadium.
๐ทAt the end of the World Cup, the Stadium 974 will be completely dismantled with the parts being used for other projects. The site will become a waterfront development.
๐ทThe capacity of the 40,000 seater Al Thumama Stadium will drop to 20,000 once the World Cup is over, with a hotel and mosque opening.
๐ทLike the Al Thumama Stadium, the 40,000 seater Al Janoub and Ahmad Bin Ali Stadiums will be reduced to 20,000 after the World Cup so that other infrastructures will be built.

Senegal ๐ธ๐ณ
Talk about suffering, this man has seen it all. Senegal has been extremely patient with him, and he has been extremely patient with himself. He never stopped trying and today he deserves all the happiness coming his way.
Aliou Cisse, as player, missed a crucial penalty as Senegal lost their first ever AFCON final in 2002.
He officially became Senegal's head coach in 2015. He was ousted in the quarterfinals of AFCON 2017. However, the Federation kept faith in him and he qualified Senegal for the 2018 World Cup.
In the 2018 World Cup, however, he suffered another heartbreak as Senegal became the first side in history to be eliminated from the World Cup based on fair play points. Senegal and Japan had the same number of points, same goal difference , same number of goals scored and it came down to disciplinary record to decide the team that qualifies. Japan progressed with 2 fewer yellow cards.
The Senegalese FA still did not give up on Cissรฉ and Cissรฉ himself did not throw in the towel. He led the side to the AFCON 2019 final but it still wasn't to be as Senegal lost to Algeria.
The FA still did not doubt his capabilities and renewed their confidence in the gaffer.
Then came time for the harvest. Aliou Cissรฉ delivered the nation's first ever AFCON title this year, and has now led them into the World Cup Round of 16 for just the second time ever.
Aliou Cissรฉ is the sort of coach whose victory will be celebrated even by his opponents, for how far he has come.
