A, an এবং the কে Article বলে।
যে Word কোন ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুুকে নির্দিষ্ট বা অনির্দিষ্টভাবে বুঝায় তাদেরকে Article বলে ।

Article দুই প্রকার।
1.Indefinite Article ( অনির্দিষ্ট পদাশ্রিত নির্দেশক )
2.Definite Article ( নির্দিষ্ট পদাশ্রিত নির্দেশক )

(i) Definite Article :
----------------------
যে Article নির্দিষ্ট কোনো ব্যক্তি, বস্তু বা প্রাণীকে নির্দেশ করে তাকে Definite Article বলে। কোনো কিছুকে নির্দিষ্ট করে বোঝাতে Definite Article ব্যবহূত হয়ে থাকে। যেমন: The book is on the table.
The person who came yesterday is my friend Mr. Jahurul Islam.

(ii) Indefinite Article :

যে Article বিশেষ কোনো ব্যক্তি, বস্তু বা প্রাণীকে নির্দিষ্টভাবে না বুঝিয়ে অনির্দিষ্ট ব্যক্তি, বস্তু, বা প্রাণীকে বোঝায় তাকে Indefinite Article বলে। A ও An কে Indefinite Article বলে। কোনো কিছুকে অনির্দিষ্ট করে বোঝাতে Indefinite Article ব্যবহূত হয়ে থাকে। যেমন:
A lion lives in a forest.
I saw a bird sitting on the wall.

a এবং an-এর ব্যবহার
অনির্দিষ্টভাবে কোনও ব্যক্তি, বস্তু অথবা শ্রেণীর কথা বোঝাতে noun -এর আগে a/ an বসে ।

A furnished flat at $8 per week. (The Gift of the Magi, O. Henry)
Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall / Humpty Dumpty had a great fall; (Nursery rhyme)
A young countryman crosses swords with a scarred stranger on his way to Paris. (The Three Musketeers, Alexandre Dumas)
পরবর্তী word যদি consonant দিয়ে শুরু হয় তবে তার আগে A ব্যবহার করতে হয়, যেমন এখানে f, w, g, y, s এরা consonant [ব্যঞ্জনবর্ণ] । a, e, i, o, u বাদে ইংরেজি alphabet-এর [বর্ণমালা] বাকি সব letter [বর্ণ] consonant ।

আবার এই বাক্যগুলো দেখ:

He is an actor.
She broke an egg.
I am an Indian.
Give me an orange.
She had an umbrella in her hand.
পরের word vowel দিয়ে শুরু হলে তার আগে An বসে । a, e, i, o, u এই পাঁচটি বর্ণ হল vowel [স্বরবর্ণ] ।

After an hour of rest he got back to work.
Brutus is an honourable man.
In her later life the woman emerged as an heir to a large property.
H তো consonant । তাহলে আগে an কেন ? না, ভুল নয় । আসলে এই “h” word-এর শুরুতে বসে থাকে বটে, কিন্তু কোনও

ইংরেজি ভাষায় A থেকে Z পর্যন্ত 26 টি বর্ন বা লেটার কে একসাথে alphabet বলে।

ইংরেজি ভাষাতে 26 টি লেটার বা বর্ন রয়েছে।

যে সকল বর্ন অন্য বর্ণের সাহায্য ছাড়াই নিজে নিজে উচ্চারিত হতে পারে তাদের vowel বলে ।

2. have to had to/ has to=must( করতে হবে)
কোনো কাজ অবশ্যই করতে হলে বা কোনো কিছু ।
3. had better:(should)
Example :you had better see a doctor.
4. would rather:(Than)থাকবে লাইনে সব সময়।
5.As Soon As:একটি কাজ হওয়ামাত্র অন্য একটি কাজ শুরু করা।
Example:The criminal run away as soon as he saw a police.
6.Unless /If:যদি না /যদি
Example: you will not success life unless you work hard
7.What does.......look like :দুইটা ফাঁকা কলাম থাকবে সেখানে দিলেই হবে।
8.it is high time /it is time :উপযুক্ত সময়
Example: It is high time go to college.
9.would you mind:(ing)থাকবে বাক্যটিতে।
Example : would you mind talking with me?
10.Let alone:বাদ দিলাম/ ছেড়ে দিলাম
Example:you cannot eat a mango let alone a dogan.
