Happy Prabarana Purnima

The Sacred Day of Spreading the Light of Peace, Wisdom, and Compassion.Today marks the auspicious occasion of Prabarana Purnima — one of the most sacred and spiritually significant days for the global Buddhist community.
It is a day of deep inspiration, moral purification, and renewed commitment to the pursuit of truth, both for the monastic Sangha and for lay devotees.

🪷 The Philosophical Significance of Prabarana Purnima:
The term Prabarana originates from the Pali word “Pavarana”, meaning “a noble invitation for self-improvement” or “a transition from unwholesome to wholesome conduct.”
This day concludes the three-month monastic retreat (Vassavasa) that commences on the full moon of Ashadha.
During this retreat, monks remain within their monasteries — engaging in deep meditation, contemplation, scriptural study, and self-reflection. On this full-moon night, members of the Sangha gather to openly acknowledge and confess their shortcomings to one another, seeking mutual forgiveness.
This practice stands as an enduring symbol of unity, humility, and compassion — the foundational virtues of Buddhist monastic life and communal harmony.

🪔 The Three Commemorative Days in the Life of Gautama Buddha:
Buddhist tradition venerates three full-moon days as profoundly significant in the life of the Buddha, each marking a milestone in His journey toward enlightenment and human emancipation:

1. Vesak (Baishakhi Purnima) — commemorating the Buddha’s Birth, Enlightenment (Sambodhi), and Parinirvana, all occurring on this very day.
2. Ashadha Purnima — marking the Buddha’s first sermon (Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta) in the Deer Park of Sarnath, initiating the dissemination of the Dhamma.
3. Ashwina Purnima (Prabarana Purnima) — symbolizing the culmination of the monastic retreat, and the renewal of the vow to serve humanity through compassion, wisdom, and mindfulness.Together, these days encapsulate the Buddha’s profound journey — from awakening to enlightenment, and ultimately to the compassionate transmission of truth for the welfare of all sentient beings.

🌸 Ethical Teachings of Prabarana:
The Blessed One, Gautama Buddha, proclaimed timeless truths:
“Non-violence is the supreme virtue.”
“Self-conquest is the greatest victory.”
“Wisdom (Paññā), morality (Sīla), and compassion (Karunā) together constitute the path to true liberation.”

The essence of Prabarana invites us to —
🌼 Dispel anger through compassion.
🌼 Replace hatred with unconditional love.
🌼 Purify the mind before judging the faults of others.

A Universal Benediction:
On this sacred full-moon night,
let us all be inspired by the eternal message of the Buddha —
to illuminate the world with truth, peace, and loving-kindness.
May ignorance and hatred dissolve into the radiance of understanding;
and may the flame of humanity and harmony shine eternally.

The Chakma — Song of Struggle

The green hills call us today,
The waterfalls sing on their way,
We are the Chakma! Children of the hills!

The forest’s heart, the river’s blood,
They carry our oath, our brotherhood—
This land, this river, our eternal right!

For centuries we lived,
We lived, we lived!
Yet we were told again and again:
“You are small, you are nothing.”

No!
We are not small!
We are strong as the mountains,
We flow like the endless rivers.

We are the Chakma! We live! We shall live!

Our language is our soul,
Our culture is our breath.
With the beat of the drum, with the song of Bijhu,
We search for the light of freedom again.

Breaking the walls of neglect,
Tearing the chains of oppression,
We cry out:
“We want our rights! We demand our rights!”

One day a new dawn will rise,
Where the hills will sing of freedom.
One day a new morning will come,
Where the rivers will testify with pride.

And the hills will roar:
We are the Chakma! We are human! We are equal!
And the rivers will sing:
We will never bow, never surrender!

চাকমা — সংগ্রামের গান

সবুজ পাহাড় ডাকছে আজ,
ঝরনার সুরে বাজছে আজ,
আমরা চাকমা! আমরা পাহাড়ের সন্তান!

অরণ্যের বুক, নদীর রক্ত,
আমাদের জীবনের প্রথম শপথ—
এই মাটি, এই নদী, আমাদের অধিকার!

কত শত বছর ধরে—
আমরা আছি, আছি, আছি!
তবু কেনো বারবার শুনতে হয়,
“তোমরা নগণ্য, তোমরা ক্ষুদ্র”?

না!
আমরা ক্ষুদ্র নই,
আমরা পাহাড়ের মতো দৃঢ়,
আমরা নদীর মতো অনন্ত প্রবাহ।

আমরা চাকমা! আমরা বেঁচে আছি! আমরা বাঁচব!

ভাষা আমাদের আত্মা,
সংস্কৃতি আমাদের শ্বাস।
ঢোলের তালে, বিজুর গানে—
আমরা খুঁজি আবার মুক্তির আলো।

অবহেলার দেয়াল ভেঙে,
শোষণের শিকল ছিঁড়ে,
আমরা গাই—
“আমাদের অধিকার চাই! আমাদের অধিকার চাই!”

একদিন আসবে নতুন ভোর,
যেখানে পাহাড় গাইবে স্বাধীনতার গান।
একদিন আসবে নতুন প্রভাত,
যেখানে নদী দেবে গর্বের সনদ।

তখন পাহাড় গর্জে উঠবে—
আমরা চাকমা! আমরা মানুষ! আমরা সমান!
তখন নদী বাজাবে সুর—
আমরা হার মানব না, কখনো না!

Green hills, rushing rivers, forests that sing,
This is the homeland where the Chakma cling.
The murmur of waterfalls lives in each breath,
The drumbeat of culture defies even death.

For centuries these lands have been our home,
Yet why must sorrow follow wherever we roam?
In the name of “progress” our soil is torn,
Our dreams are broken, our hearts forlorn.

Our language is spirit, our songs are flame,
Yet neglect and silence try to erase its name.
The children who long to write in their tongue,
Are silenced, forgotten, their voices unsung.

History is etched with scars of neglect,
Yet the Chakma endure with unbroken respect.
Our blood, our sweat, our tears in these lands,
Still fade to shadows in power’s hands.

But O Chakma youth, do not lose your fire,
Within you burns tomorrow’s desire.
Light the flame of struggle, hold your ground,
Let your rights be reclaimed, let your voice resound.

Once more the girls will dance at Bijhu’s call,
The drums will thunder with pride for all.
And the hills will echo beneath the sky:
“We are the Chakma, our spirit shall never die.”

The dawn will come, the shadows will fall,
Justice will rise to embrace us all.
The rivers, the forests, the mountains will say:
“The Chakma live free, in light of day.” 🌿

🌾চাকমা আদিবাসী 🌾

সবুজ পাহাড়, নদীর স্রোত, অরণ্যের গান,
এই প্রকৃতিই চাকমাদের জন্মভূমির প্রাণ।
ঝরনার কলতান মিশে থাকে প্রতিটি শ্বাসে,
ঢোলের তালে তালে বাজে জীবনের ভাষে।

কত শত বছর ধরে এ ভূমি আমাদের ঘর,
তবু কেনো প্রতিদিন বয়ে আনতে হয় দুঃখ ভর?
উন্নয়নের নামে কেড়ে নেয় মাটি,
স্বপ্ন ভেঙে যায়, বুক ভরে ওঠে কান্নার গতি।

ভাষা আমাদের আত্মা, গান আমাদের প্রাণ,
তবু অবহেলায় হারায় তার সোনালি মান।
যে শিশুরা মাতৃভাষায় লিখতে চায় ছন্দ,
তাদের কণ্ঠ চেপে ধরে বিস্মৃতির বন্ধ।

ইতিহাসের পাতায় জমেছে অবহেলার রেখা,
তবু চাকমারা লড়েছে দৃঢ় সংকল্পে দেখা।
আমাদের রক্ত, ঘাম, অশ্রু মিশে এই পাহাড়ে,
তবু কেনো আমাদের স্বপ্ন হারিয়ে যায় অন্ধকারে?

তবু হে চাকমা যুবক, হার মানো না তুমি,
তোমার ভেতরেই লুকিয়ে আছে আগামীর ভূমি।
সংগ্রামের আগুন জ্বালাও হৃদয়ের মাঝে,
অধিকার ফেরাতে হবে দৃঢ় প্রতিজ্ঞার সাজে।

মেয়েরা নাচবে আবার বিজুর তালে,
ঢোল বাজবে গর্বের ছন্দে, সুরের জালে।
আবার উঠবে পাহাড়ের আকাশে ধ্বনি,
“আমরা চাকমা, আমাদের অধিকার চির অম্লান ধ্বনি।”

একদিন আসবে সে প্রভাত, যখন অবহেলা মুছে যাবে,
চাকমারা দাঁড়াবে মাথা উঁচু করে, সবার সমান হবে।
পাহাড়, নদী, অরণ্য তখন সাক্ষ্য দেবে—
চাকমা জাতি আবারো আলোয় ভাসবে। 🌿
