Building Your Daily Skin Routine

After determining you skin type you need to pick products that will work for your skin. Sometimes it’s a hit on the first trial but for others it’s a couple of misses before they find the right products for them so don’t worry too much about it because what works for someone else may not work for you. This is a daily routine, some of the other things you can do will be listed down below the routine.

1. CLEANSE- gently cleanse your skin to remove makeup, pick a cleanser that does not leave your skin feeling tight. You can use different things e.g. oils (coconut oil), cleansers (Nivea, Johnson’s, Clear, Epimax etc whatever works for you )
2. WASH- use a facewash or bar soap (black soap, clicks facial bar soap) whatever works for you, to wash your face and remove dirt and excess oils. It will help prevent breakouts.
3. TONE- use a toner to remove left over dirt and leave your skin feeling fresh
4. MOISTURISE- Lastly use a moisturizer or oil on your face depending on your skin type so it’s not left feeling dry and tight.

Other things to do during the week
-Exfoliate- before you tone you face use an exfoliating product or scrub on your skin. This is to remove dead skin, however be gently when doing it to avoid scrubbing too hard and harming your skin. You can do this once or twice a week (when using a gentler scrub).
-Mask- use different types of mask to moisturize, balance your skin ph, improve your skin tone etc depending on what your skin needs then at the time.
-Protect your skin from the sun- prolonged sun exposure can cause wrinkles, age spots and other skin problems and increase the risk of skin cancer. Use a sunscreen of SPF 15/30

We will start the first series on how to take care of your skin.
I’ll try to keep the post short and I’ll try not to make them so many so that it’s simple and helpful

So first thing first: you need to know your skin type in order to know what skin regime to go with that suits your skin.

SKIN TYPE TEST
-wash your face and pat dry and wait for 15-20minutes.
- observe different areas of your face like your forehead, chin, nose and cheeks.

DRY SKIN- they’ll be no oil, it’ll be flaky and it will also be tight.

OILY SKIN- high shine and will be slippery to the touch.

COMBINATION SKIN- it will feel different in different areas of the face, some will be dry some oily.

NORMAL SKIN- not too oily not too flaky or dry.
