I know many of you know this but I feel it's important so I'll voice it here anyway:
No matter how much you've been hurt, no matter how much your children have been hurt, no matter how much animosity you harbour or how much you crave vengeance; please don't ever, EVER teach your children to hate. Don't pretend that your partner was wonderful, but don't tell your kids he/she is crazy or call them names. Simply tell them you don't know why that person does what they do or says what they say. Let your children figure things out in their own time and their own way. Sorry if I sound like I'm lecturing. I struggle with this every day as my ex tries to teach my children to hate me, and I have to make sense of it for them and stay above his level for their sake.
