𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐋𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐀𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐧𝐢 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐅𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐁𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 Three of the De Beers Shining Light Awards alumni, Caiphus Othomile of La Calla, Victor Motlokwa of Vic-tor Jewellers, and Sino Ragontse, recently showcased their work at the Fashion Without Borders Africa Fashion Show, a platform dedicated to celebrating and elevating African design talent. Their participation marked a significant moment of visibility for Botswana’s creative voices in both fashion and jewellery design. Ahead of the showcase, the alumni visited diamond operations in Gaborone where they engaged with Laduma Ngxokolo and the Maxhosa Africa team. The exchange sparked meaningful dialogue around the intersection of creativity and industry, and how local designers are crafting narratives that reflect both cultural heritage and contemporary innovation. The event drew support from Thabile Moipolai, our Senior Vice President of People Partnering in Diamond Trading, who also graced the runway, adorned in elegant Forevermark jewellery, adding a personal touch to the celebration of local design excellence. The presence of the alumni at the fashion show underscored the evolving role of diamonds, not merely as a resource but as a medium for storytelling, craftsmanship, and opportunity.
