The cost of product for this service was $47.37 - you might be asking, how did I arrive at this amount?

I use a service called - I highly recommend it to any suite or booth stylist/salon owner out there 🙌 this is like your insurance policy on pricing & 100% worth the expense.

It’s a scale that ensures more accurate and appropriate pricing - depending on hair length, hair density & the amount of products needed to achieve guests’ hair goals - we don’t know how much product we’ve used, until we’ve used it.

It could be anywhere between $25-$60 of product in a single session - No head of hair is the same, which means pricing isn’t the same either.

Similar to other businesses (like mechanics) parts & labour are separate costs. There’s no such thing as “I thought it was included.” It’s not!

My pricing is based on a calculation - I’m not just blindly throwing numbers your way!

These are things I’m factoring:
•Demand of time (my hourly cost)
•Expertise & technical skill
•Products used
•Tools used
•Overhead cost & operating expenses

Time + Labour + Product = $$$

A tattoo artist can charge for their artistry -
$$$ + $$$$ No one questions it.

An artist can sell their painting for $$$-$$$$$
No one questions it.

A hairstylist charging $300+ for a balayage that directly impacts your mood, self esteem & overall appearance - (something that many people hold at high value), is suddenly absurd? why are we questioned for our pricing, or asked to provide it “cheaper” ?

Hairstyling/colouring is considered a luxury service, something that you choose to do; It’s not a life or death situation if you don’t have your hair coloured (for most 😅)
Just like any service, there’s a cost associated with it. It’s a WANT not a NEED.

It’s important for me as a business owner to ensure that my costs are accounted for & that my clients are aware of everything that goes into the services I provide & my team provides in order to keep the salon doors OPEN! 🙋🏽‍♀️ can’t keep doing great hair with no salon….
