Beijing also has a very strong coffee scene in areas called HUTONGS in which I didn’t get a chance to visit 🫠 I’d recommend at least 3 days in this city!

I know that voice.

To care about aesthetics and growth.

To love ambition but feel exhausted by it.

I used to think feeling good would come naturally once I achieved enough.
Once the business grew.
Once the milestones stacked up.
Once I proved I could handle it all.
But even on the days everything looks polished, there’s still a quiet whisper that says,
“you’re not doing enough.”
Some people would call me a serial overworker.
If you’re working hard, I might be working harder.
And I’m starting to question that.
As a first-generation older daughter, achievement has never felt optional. It felt tied to gratitude. To responsibility. To not wasting sacrifice.
Research shows children of immigrants often internalize strong pressure to succeed because they feel responsible for upward mobility. Older daughters especially are more likely to take on emotional and performance-based responsibility early, which can turn into perfectionism later.
So sometimes I’m not chasing growth.
I’m chasing enoughness.
And those are not the same thing.
When I say I want to help you look good and feel good, I’m realizing feeling good has less to do with output and more to do with how gently we speak to ourselves.
