…had a wee little angel come and visit the booth this past weekend - and just to see her little face (and her lovely momma) just made my whole day. Mom later sent me pics of her holding her soap on the way home and then at home. Nothing makes me more proud and happy in this little business - than moments of connection like this. 💕

Today, and all days, we recognize Truth and Reconciliation, remembering and honouring all lives hurt and lost by Canada’s Residential School system. It’s a time to remember the children who never made it home - and the resilience of those who did. This day encourages us to engage with the history and current realities of Indigenous Peoples and their experiences with Canada’s colonial system.

At the heart of reconciliation is the truth: It’s about acknowledging that Indigenous Peoples continue to face systemic racism, cultural erasure, and the generational trauma caused by residential schools. Truth and Reconciliation Day is an opportunity to honour these truths and take responsibility for our role in ensuring that these stories are never forgotten.

I am honoured to live, work, and play on Treaty 7 land - where I commune with all people, trees, and living things.

The Barn Artisan Market Vendor Profile | The Dandelion Soapery - Alberta, Canada Kicking off our vendor profiles for The Autumn Market, we are thrilled to have The Dandelion Soapery joining us on August 21st! “The Dandelion Soapery is, firstly, rooted in a space of sustainable and ethical practice, creating handmade soaps, bath soaks, body butters, dish soaps, balms, car diffusers, and additional products with essential oils. As much as possible, raw and salvaged materials are used both in display and packaging. Additionally, many of the botanicals used are grown and harvested right in Chrissie’s garden and surrounding community. Products are created in small batches, ensuring care and commitment to a high quality, thoughtful, and natural ingredient list. This means no perfumes, parabens, or synthetic additives.” Come help us usher in fall at the Shawnessy Barn from 11 to 4. We’ll have two floors of local vendors for your shopping enjoyment!
