Your imperfect, unfiltered mom friend
Raising kids + cattle
Motherhood • Sports • Real life • Wellness
I dunno about you but I am dressed like a sleeping bag at a beach volleyball tournament in a wind storm and I would do it again tomorrow..
that’s love. unhinged, weatherproofed love.
Anyone else?
Here’s what you’re signing up for:
The real, unfiltered, elder millennial side of sports mom life. The early mornings, the tournament weekends, the mental load nobody talks about, all while chasing wellness and trying to keep myself together too.
No highlight reel. Just the actual thing.
Comment what sport your kid plays 👇🏻
If there is one piece of advice i’d give to a new sports mom trying to survive the season without completely losing herself, it would be this:
Stop trying to keep up with the other moms in the stands.
Your kid doesn’t need you to have the best snack bag or the loudest cheer or the most put-together game day look. If you do those things that’s fine if you don’t that’s also just as fine. All they need from you, is to show up. The rest is noise you made up.
She’s 14 now and I don’t take a single second of it for granted.
Is every moment perfect? No.
But I know what 14 can look like. I lived a version of it I wouldn’t wish on anyone.
Watching her move through this age, on the court, in the gym, in the car on the way home from a tournament at 11pm, supported, loved, sure of herself in everything she’s doing. It’s the strangest and most healing thing I’ve ever experienced.
I didn’t get the mother daughter relationship I wanted growing up. But I have it now. I’m just the mom this time.
Who knew that’s how the story would play out.
Bought a wearable sleeping bag and I’ve never felt more seen by a product in my life. If it was heated it couldn’t be beat.
First beach tournament of the season around the corner. So naturally there is rain in the forecast. But I’m ready for it.
We are only in starting year two of beach and have already learned a few things about being prepared. This one was a must add to the list. Because whatever keeps me warm on a wet sideline, you know I’m adding to cart.
Who else is adding this to their cart for the spring season sports mommas?!
Well I just got home from a very long weekend away for hockey and the kids just unboxed this balance board and I already know it’s gonna be a permanent living room fixture.
honestly?
not mad about it.
These taupe adidas were not on my bingo card this season but here we are. thanks muddy saskatchewan for trying to eat my sneakers after hockey…. and honestly i’m no longer mad about it.
mom sport mode activated. 🤎
Comment 🤎🤎🤎🤎 and I’ll send you the link
