Why my studio is TPO free
As of September 1st the EU banned the use of TPO in cosmetic products including gel nail systems. At high doses studies in animals (male rats) linked it to reproductive issues. While human evidence is limited, the EU has taken a precautionary approach.
What is TPO?
TPO is a photo-initiator; it starts the curing (hardening) process when liquid gel is exposed to LED or UV light.
There are safer alternatives.
That’s why I am committed to using only high quality and responsible products in my services. I use Akzéntz, 💯 Canadian brand. All EU market Akzéntz gels are TPO-free and most are even HEMA-free.
