When I initially started Skwiik, I was compelled by my freedom to create and inspire.  
 
What I noticed as the years went on was that I was trying to be as digestible as possible in terms of a brand. Intuitively that didn’t feel right to me. I felt confined by these pressures.  
 
I came up with Freak Face (with the help of ) while going through a lot of personal changes in my life.  
 
I’ve always felt like an outcast and started to realize that so many other people do as well!  
I wanted to create a brand that was less “pretty” - and more real, gritty, but still fun. I can’t wait to unveil what we have been working on.

My journey through adversity and judgements have led me to do a lot of self reflecting. I wanted to share a few things that have helped me through some of the loneliness of not feeling seen and heard.

✨ do what you want, because there will always be judgement! It’s okay to “fail” or make a mistep. Recognize that you are in the drivers seat ✨

✨ fill your circle with people who truly help you feel at home in their presence and in your body. Listening to your gut is key and developing trust within yourself is mandatory ✨

✨ not everyone is worth hearing your story. Protecting your energy is so key (especially in our modern social climate). Your struggles and your story should be sacred to those who hold space and are able to give you the support that you need. ✨

I hope to leave you inspired and ambitious to chase your goals and dreams (YOUR WAY) 💖

This is an accurate depiction of how I have felt throughout my life and even currently.

Being a WOC has shaped me in so many positive ways but it has it’s limitations and hurdles.

These are some of the things I want I have been challenging myself to myself explore

✨ pushing myself out of my comfort zone by doing things that light my spark over doing things that I feel my culture would deem acceptable. ✨

✨ becoming more independent. I’m a Pisces so you know I love co-dependency 🤓✨

✨ focusing on self care and choosing myself in order to inspire my son to grow up and live in his truth✨

I’ve been so excited to share my recent experience with an incredibly talented, inclusive, and safe photographer. ✨✨✨✨
She helped me to feel comfortable in my own skin and created an environment for me to shed some of the shame I have associated with how I present my body.

This year has been super transformative for me as an individual and I have gone through some major life changes.

It has been one of the most difficult times for me but I have never felt stronger and more certain about the direction that I’m heading in.
