Liza’s story 🧡

I first attended Transformations T66 to support my younger sibling. At that time, I wasn’t there for myself, and I wasn’t ready to do the work I needed to do.

For years, I struggled with addiction and spent ten years in a toxic relationship. I had two daughters, a home, and so much to live for, but my girls witnessed violence and abuse that they should never have experienced.

In April 2026, my daughters were taken from my care. After losing them, my addiction became worse. I overdosed three times and had to be revived. I also reached a point where I wanted to end my life.

But I’m still here. And I reached a moment when I knew I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. I wanted to live. I wanted to get sober, heal, and bring my daughters home.

I started asking for help and advocating for myself. That decision brought me back to Transformations for T85. This time, I was there for me.

At T85, I met my Transformations family. I began doing the work for myself, facing what I had been carrying and making changes in my life. I completed the program and the 30-day challenge, and I kept going with my recovery. It wasn’t easy, but I was determined to keep moving forward, for myself and for my girls.

Transformations helped me on my path to sobriety and supported me as I worked to get my daughters back. The lead team stood beside me, including attending a meeting to speak about the work I had done through the program. Having that support meant so much to me. I was doing the work, and I had people who could speak to that and stand with me.

On September 18, 2026, my daughters were legally returned to my care.

Later that month, I returned to Transformations for T87, this time as a coach. Being there for others opened my eyes and my heart again. There were happy tears, moments of connection, and so much to be grateful for. I felt proud and honoured that people trusted me enough to open up and work with me.

Transformations helped change my life. I chose to show up, do the work, and keep going, and the support I received helped me get sober and bring my girls home.

As a reminder to stay on the good path, I got a tattoo on my left forearm that says “Play Life @ a 10,” with a warrior arrow in the Transformations colours.

Today at T-87, we pause to honour the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation 🧡

Transformations is in Calgary this week at the Recovery Capital Conference!

The conversations here around recovery, connection and building healthier communities are closely aligned with the work we do at Transformations.

We see firsthand how creating space for people to understand themselves, work through what has shaped them and build stronger connections can create a transformation that extends well beyond the individual.

It’s a great reminder of why this work matters, especially as we prepare to welcome our next group to Ness Lake, September 28 - October 2.

Taking responsibility isn’t about blame. It’s about recognizing the power we have to make conscious choices, break old patterns, and choose a path that reflects who we want to become.

As we wrap up our final Adult Personal Development Experience before summer, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to every participant who joined us this season.

Thank you for your courage, vulnerability, trust, and willingness to do the work. It has been an honour to witness the growth, healing, and transformation that has unfolded throughout these experiences.

As we shift our focus to our youth programs for the summer, we carry deep appreciation for each person who has been part of this journey.

Have a wonderful summer, and we look forward to reconnecting in the fall for another season of growth, connection, and transformation 🧡
