How to care for your hair this summer☀️

1. Keep it out of the sun by wearing a hat or braiding it and use hair styling products with UV protection. The sun will naturally lighten your hair causing warmth
2. Minimize chlorine or salt water. If you can’t avoid dunking your head on those hot days make sure you wet your hair with regular tap water first so that it soaks up that instead of the chlorine/salt or else put a barrier like conditioner or oil
3. Extra hydration! With the sun, wind, salt, etc your hair will feel dry faster so pick up a deep conditioning mask and use it once a week

Hello friends! It’s been a while since I’ve done an official post. The first 3 months as a family has been a whirlwind! Emery is such a little sweet heart and has proven to be a good traveller during our road trip to Alberta. She just snoozes the minute we hit the highway! ☺️

Now that I’m back from holidays I’ll be doing refills again, and have recently updated the list of shampoo/conditioners offered. (Check the story highlights). Let’s talk about hair masks/ treatments🌸

Why do you need one?
A hair mask is a deep conditioning treatment meant to give your hair an extra boost of moisture, protein, or strength. It’s formulated to work quickly and be more effective than your everyday conditioner. Think like a face mask, foot mask, etc. when you’re feeling like your hair is lacking something you can add a mask into your routine to enhance the health of it. Masks are meant to be used as needed or every 3-4 washes. *depending on how often you are washing or if your hair is in extra need of conditioning*

There are many different types of hair treatments such as; in-salon treatments, Olaplex, or a standard hair mask. I suggest chatting with your hairstylist to decide which would be best for you!

Here’s your reminder that if you have a mask sitting in your cupboard it’s time to put it in your shower 😉

Her before is a balayage that I did 7 months ago and we’ve maintained in between with a toner/trim every 2 months. It was now time to bring the blonde back up with some more hand painting, and we did a good chop to change things up! 😍

Let’s talk about purple shampoo!

First, if you are wanting to cancel out yellow you’ll use a purple shampoo 🟨|🟪
Second, if you see orange in your hair you’re going to want to grab a blue shampoo instead. This is seen more if you are in the medium brown to dark blonde stage 🟧|🟦

Now when it comes to using these products, you’ve probably heard someone tell you before that they can dry your hair out and that is correct! Typically when you wash your hair you keep the shampoo at the roots and condition the ends, so when you’re applying purple shampoo you’re putting it all throughout which could definitely dry out anyone’s hair.

A common misconception is that purple shampoo will “brighten” your blonde. This could be accurate in some cases but technically if you think about it.. 🟨 yellow is brighter then 🟪 purple . Warm vs ash. Most of the time I find clients are over using purple shampoo to eliminate yellow as much as possible which eventually build up on your hair causing it to appear dull or darker. What you should do instead is use it as needed. That means maybe every 3-4 washes (2-3weeks) depending on the look you want.

Here are some tips:
-When you use purple shampoo pair it with a hydrating mask on the same wash
-Opt for a purple conditioner to keep your hair a little more hydrated
-Book a toner refresh in between your lightening services to correct the tone
-Use it when you need it, do not over use!

When can I get my refill?
Bring your bottles to your next appointment or contact me to arrange a time.

Do they need to be emptied first?
No, you can bring in your bottles to be topped up. I would recommend emptying them if you are wanting to try something new.

Do you have extra bottles?
Not at the moment, I’m considering bringing in some refillable bottles for purchase but for now you need to supply your own.

Do I need to do a full refill?
No, you can choose to refill a half a bottle if you choose! This is a great way to try out a new product without having to commit to the whole bottle.
