There are so many pressures in today’s society: eat this, don’t eat that, do this, take this diet, grow your hair, lose weight, wear this makeup, buy these clothes, and on, and on. There are quick fads and lifestyle choices. My goal, throu

Does anyone have issues with their joints such as knees? It's common as we get older that we experience joint pain. So what can you do?
Oil Your Joints!
The better you nourish your joints, the better they work. Inflammation leads to arthritis, among other things, so it makes sense that the less inflammation in your body the less pain, such as joint pain.
Fish oils, such as wild salmon, help rebuild damaged cartilage through their anti-inflammatory properties. 'In a Danish study it was found that people who ate an average of four ounces of fish daily had less joint swelling, morning stiffness, and pain than those who didn't, ' (Prime Time Healthy by Dr. Bill Sears).
So what about those who don't like fish? I suffer with that myself. Omega 3 supplements are a good route for those who don't eat at least two 6 ounce portions of wild salmon per week. When looking for a supplement, look for something that is derived from wild fish, such as salmon, and is solely an Omega 3 (we get enough 6's in our regular diet), and be sure it's EPA and DHA, which it should be if it's from wild fish.

I'm just back from a trip to St Louis and, not having eaten very well the whole time I was away, I figured it would be fitting to talk about digestion.
As we age, digestion slows, becomes more sluggish and can create some uncomfortable digestive issues such as heartburn or constipation. Nutrient absorption also slows, so it's important to have a healthy diet and lifestyle.
One way to improve digestion and absorption is to eat smoothies! Pack them full of delicious nutrients like spinach and kale, berries, avocado and a vegan protein powder. Don't worry, you can't taste the greens! Toss it all in the blender and sip it slowly throughout the morning. It will keep you full, and since all of those nutrients are blended, your digestive system doesn't have to work as hard, and your body can absorb those nutrients over time.
If you'd like to know more about making healthy smoothies, join me this evening for a live smoothie event at 7pm AB time, link below:

Reshaping your tastes is a real thing. If you ever thought "I could never eat like that for that long," yes, you actually can. Your body knows what's good for it, what it needs, but after eating nutrition-less processed foods for so long the senses turn off so to speak. So you start filling your body with good foods and it starts to crave good foods, it's telling you, "give me more of the good stuff" and it's rewarding you by feeling good. Then, when you choose to eat poorly, your body tells you.
For instance, we had a pot luck at work for bosses day on Friday and I would have felt bad not taking part. Truth is, I felt so sick yesterday (I also ate crap for supper Friday night). My poor belly could not handle all the food I don't typically eat. While it tasted good, I won't be doing it on a regular basis because every time I do I see a sh*tty pattern 😂💨
So the lesson, good foods in, good feelings out. Bad foods in, they have short time satisfaction and then you feel 💩
Talk to me about reshaping your tastes! I'd love to help!

How many of you know that all calories are not equal? This is why I will never support "calorie counting". Eating food shouldn't be so difficult that we have to measure, weigh, count. Just eat REAL food and you'll be fine.
This article is a really quick and easy read to show you what I mean about calories.

Well, cold and flu season is well upon us, at least here in Alberta anyways. What are some tips you have to stay healthy and avoid the germs?
I like to super boost my daily smoothies with foods such as blueberries and spinach. Did you know that blueberries have the highest antioxidant capacity? They also mask the taste of foods like spinach, which is high in Vitamin C, making them great for picky little eaters, like my daughter Annelie.
It's important to think about what you can DO for your health, rather than what you can TAKE, in terms of medication. I hear a lot of people saying they are taking extra Vitamin C, but what they should be doing instead is eating more fruits and veggies. Your body doesn't know what to do with an isolated vitamin, it needs the 10,000 other phytonutrients that go along with it, so really all that extra Vitamin C is just really expensive p*e....

I'm back!! I wrote the final exam for my coaching course on Sunday, and boy did it feel great! I'm not loaded down with a bunch of knowledge and feel really empowered to help others take their health into their own hands.
Tip for the day: Inflammation is a major factor in chronic illness and the primary cause of excess inflammation is diet. So, control your inflammation and reduce the risk of illness. Eat variety, foods that are rich in color, and graze throughout the day. Your body will thank you, and you'll thank yourself for making simple changes to lead a healthy lifestyle.

This gives me chills. As I've learned in my Health Coaching course, and believed beforehand, sometimes it's hard to know what's the symptom from the health issue and what's the symptom from the medication they've prescribed.
Oftentimes you go to the doctor for an ailment, walk out with a prescription, and then you end up with more symptoms... then they diagnose you with something else... then you get another prescription, more symptoms and the vicious cycle continues. So which symptom is a result of an illness and which is a result of a medication. How would they ever know?
Don't get me wrong, there is a time and place for western medicine, absolutely. But there is more of a place for nutrition; healthy foods and healthy eating. We are so quick to take a prescription from the doctor, often without realizing that there are side effects, and most likely without asking what you might be able to change in your diet or lifestyle first, before taking the medication.

Healthy eating doesn't have to be boring or expensive!
This is homemade Pansit. It's just cabbage, carrots, onions, homemade teriyaki sauce, and chicken breast. I served it on rice noodles, but those are optional.
D E L I C I O U S !!
Lots of flavour, and fed three adults with two containers left over for lunches 😉

Constipated? I’m sure you know that fiber helps you p**p, but did you know why?
Insoluble fiber – mainly the skins of fruits and veg and husks of grains – acts like a sponge and absorbs water into stool to help keep them soft and bulky, stimulating the intestines to contract and move them along, resulting in softer and more frequent movements.
Lesson, don’t p*el your fruits and veg, you need the fiber!
There are a ton of benefits to fiber, and you can read them all here,
