True of False: Sleep apnea causes repeated pauses in breathing during sleep?
True! In fact, sleep apnea is a serious sleep-related breathing disorder in which breathing repeatedly stops and starts throughout the night. These pauses can last from a few seconds to over a minute.
Each pause disrupts normal oxygen flow to the brain and body, often causing brief awakenings that fragment sleep.
Symptoms include:
Loud, chronic snoring
Gasping or choking during sleep
Morning headaches
Difficulty concentrating or brain fog
Mood changes, anxiety or irritability
Poor sleep quality despite long sleep hours
Head to our website to learn more about sleep apnea, or speak with your pharmacist today.
