about 5 months since I unpacked my makeup brushes for a wedding…
to be completely honest, I almost quit the hair and makeup industry… literally three days ago.
we as hair and makeup artists are under more pressure than ever, with all of the filtered and photoshopped images surfacing the internet. I feel terrible when a bride or bridesmaid shows me an inspiration photo of a person who looks nothing like them. not only that, but that photo is completely photoshopped and altered, and they most likely have extensions in their. there are currently 3 photos that have gone viral and I continue to receive these photos from brides as inspo photos. I shake my head everytime, but still continue to try my best to make them look like that altered and photoshopped photo.

thankfully, I had one of my best days as a makeup artist yesterday. for the first time in my makeup career, I said to myself “you nailed it!”. every face, I was was happy with my work. it was almost as if somebody was giving me a sign not to give up, “keep pushing and doing what you love”.

this post is for those hair and makeup artists who are also struggling with the same thing. let me know your thoughts below. I’d love to know that I’m not alone… this is also for brides and those who rely and put their trust into hair and makeup artists, to make them look their absolute best. please give us some grace…
