I need to own something I feel genuinely embarrassed about.

Bushwaxed is q***r owned and q***r friendly. I am the mom of a trans kid. Inclusion is not a buzzword for me. It is personal. And yet I only just realized that new clients booking with us had no way to share their pronouns.
That one stung.
It took me noticing the absence to understand how quietly exclusion can hide inside the systems we use every day. Square Appointments does not offer a built in pronoun field for online booking as a standard option. Let that sink in. In 2026. For a service industry that works with bodies, identities, and trust.
So I fixed what I could. I now have a custom field in the booking process where new clients can select their pronouns.

This is me saying out loud that even when your values are clear, you can still miss things. And when you notice, you fix them. You do not get defensive. You do not wait. You do better.

And Square, respectfully, do better too.
