After high school I cut my long, blonde hair off into a David Bowie mullet and coloured it brown! I loved it for about 72 hours before I started to have an identity crisis.
My hair is naturally thin and straight so trying to grow out that style was brutal, in the ways of having a mullet and flat mushroom cut at the same time.

I looked into extensions but REALLY didn’t want it to look silly or stupid because I played a lot of sports and was really low maintenance with my hair. I dreaded having to do all the work and styling but this short hair cut was more work than I thought it would be anyway. (DON’T cut your hair off because you think it’ll be less work! Especially you NEW moms!)
I finally heard of fusion extensions on a TV reality show was intrigued... until I found out it was over a $1000 to get them. *insert 5 minutes of crying*

Long story short I noticed a girl in my class and invited her to be a part of my project so I could ask her where she got them and how much she paid. (I was ruthless AND OSAP just came in...) That is how my extension journey began! She referred to me to someone who came to my home and hide my flat and boring hair-cut with extensions and I was HOOKED!
I couldn’t believe how much better I felt about myself and how the extra confidence affects the decisions I made. I was starting to really observe how the way a woman feels about herself affects her personality and also the relationships (she allows) in her life.

I was a personal trainer at the time and started to also do hair extensions after completing the course in Toronto at the Toronto Hair Academy. I was bribed into by my sisters and never planned on doing extensions full-time.
After my first install on my sister I couldn’t believe how great I felt because she felt so great. In a matter of a couple hours her self-esteem and self-love was through the roof, it was contagious. On my days off my sister’s friends wanted it done and their friends wanted it done and it grew and grew organically on it’s own. After a quick trip to Thailand I realized I’d rather be broke then doing someone that wasn’t making me happy and I left personal training to pursue what became Dream Hair full-time.

Hair extensions were creating that feel-good body image in ladies in a matter of an hour or two that took weeks and months with personal training. My training clients we’re so hard on themselves and needed constant motivation. I was exhausted. Hair extensions were so much more than that and I felt like I wasn’t even working, we were just chatting and voila everyone was so happy! Even I still need my extensions in to have a great work-out and boost of confidence when talking with a stranger or making a professional decision.

It was never about the hair. It is never about the hair with each new or loyal client that walks through my door. Almost every new client always has a “why” she finally took he step to try extensions or a “reason” whether that is a divorce, new relationship, milestone, break-up, wedding, court date.... Women always alter their hair to hide or shine depending on a circumstance. Creating an alter-ego we fall in love with.
It was always about us and whats deep down, really deep down inside of us that might need a little light from the outside in order to shine from within.
Dream Hair might enhance and frame your pretty face and personality but it also is a comfort, a security blanket and self-esteem boost we all deserve to strut through life with.

I’ve been wearing fusion extensions for 12 years now and have been specializing in installing extensions for over a decade this month!
My real hair is so healthy I don’t even know what to do with it. (so overrated! It blows in my face, so silky and soft, I need to bleach and starch it up a bit!) If taken care of and changed within a healthy period your hair can grow as long as the extensions with time. Most of my clients including myself wear them because its LESS work, LESS washing, LESS styling and always feeling like were ready for a romantic gala that we’re never going to go too. Did I mention messy buns and braids?! Hey, I have thinner hair naturally, I’ll never achieve that on my own, but who cares when I can add a little thickness and colour without colouring or interrupting my own hair.
