My guest Karen has had a pretty short Pixie cut for a few years and has been debating growing a little longer. I have been teasing her that she could pull off any of Tegan and Sara's haircuts. She doesn't like a messy style. So here is my slow morph into a slightly longer Tegan and Sara inspired cut, but keep it professional.
I do a lot of texturizing, channeling, and carved out areas to keep her style easy to maintain, and able to grow out keeping its shape. I carved out a little triangular area just above her ears to keep the pixie clean look around her ears, but still keep the appearance of growing it out just that little bit.
What do you guys think!? Should we do more Tegan and Sara inspired cuts on Karen?

Let me walk you through my process.
We have natural unpigmented hairs to deal with when her hair grows out, so we did a few new blonde foils, added a deeper neutral copper lowlight, a base break to soften her base and to bring it up a smidge warmer, treatment and then toned with coppers, beige blonde and a tiny bit of pink for that champagne strawberry blonde. Rather than a deep root that would require major maintenance, this look will fade softer and have a more subtle grow out and still achieves our goal!
It will look different in every type of lighting (as all colours do) but especially these tones as you can see even in this short video how differently they can appear.

I had so much fun creating this s**g. We did curtain bangs with a little micro layer for a soft look, tons of texture and layers for movement that looks amazing straight, with her natural waves and curled like we have it styled here.
Can you believe this is her natural colour? It's just incredible. We did a toning shampoo and colour giving conditioner to brighten up her natural white hair as well.

It's the perfect time to do a little about me post.

We recently took new headshots, so here's mine, a pic of me and my most wonderful apprentice Laurla. A little behind the scenes magic with the one and only .cyan , the Salon Cyan visionary.

Thank-you for following along as I post some of my favourite work, and dive into some of my hair related special interests.

I have been doing hair for 20 years now or more if you include giving my mom backcombed mohawks and 57 ponytail styles as a child.

I truly love my clients and try to connect on a more personal level. I adore hearing about your interests, hearing all of your life updates, and feel for you in the hard times. My chair is a safe space to be authentically you. If you prefer a quieter appointment or have sensory needs please don't be shy to ask. I feel that knowing my clients personalities, interests and lifestyle help me to curate looks that really suit them, and are able to be replicated. Or at least are done in a way that takes into consideration each person's ability to maintain at home as well.

I am a mama to a preschooler, a cat and a dog.

I enjoy all things Sci Fi, nerding out over random articles I read (let's be real, tik toks I watched) and love to learn new things.

I call myself a hobby collector and have enjoyed everything from mountain biking, scrap booking, veggie gardening, motorcycle riding, and probably 17 crafts that I bought the supplies for tried for a week and never picked back up again still sitting in my closet 😅
