What is an audiologist?
I say that word at the end of all of my videos « I’m Jenny Alvarado, audiologist »… But what is an audiologist??? (I had a lot fun making this one 😜)
The audiologist is the health professional who diagnoses and treats hearing loss and vestibular disorders (balance). They also recommend the use of hearing devices such as hearing aids, cochlear implants, bone implants, assistive listening devices and remote microphone systems. They provide patients with counselling on communication repair strategies, hearing loss, noise-induced hearing loss, tinnitus (ringing), hyperacusis (« super-hearing »), misophonia (fear of sound) and more. Audiologists are also involved in the rehabilitation of listening/auditory and balance skills.
