How do Hips impact Posture?

Did you know that a misaligned hip can lead to several postural imbalances; here’s how:

šŸ‘‰From the hips and above:
- Uneven shoulders
- Pelvis tilting
- Spinal compensations
- Increased risk of lower back and hip discomfort/pain
- Potential for injuries over time

šŸ‘‰From the hips and below:
- Uneven leg length
- Knee misalignment (valgus or varus)
- Foot pronation or supination
- Hip rotation
- Pelvic tilt or rotation
- Decreased stability and balance

The whole body is a single integrated structure, like a building, in which an imbalance/misalignment in one place will necessarily entail changes in another.

Prolonged incorrect loading on muscles and ligaments leads to curvature of posture, and deformation of bones - to a constant feeling of discomfort.

Remember, pain isn't just about age—it's often because our bodies aren't aligned right due to injuries or repetitive actions. Age isn't the main factor. Additionally, our bodies don't have a built-in way to sense age; they respond to how we treat them and the stresses we put on them over time.

Age does not have to be associated with pain and discomfort.

Don’t wait for discomfort to escalate. Book a free consultation with me to sample how simple stretches and gentle exercises help Align Your Posture and alleviate pain.

šŸ‘£ Dealing with Foot Pain? You’re Not AlonešŸ‘£

Ever felt that sharp, stabbing pain in your heel when you take those first steps in the morning or after a long day on your feet? It’s a familiar struggle for many, and it’s often caused by a condition called Plantar Fasciitis.

Plantar Fasciitis occurs when the band of tissue that supports the arch of your foot, known as the plantar fascia, becomes inflamed. This band plays a crucial role in absorbing shock during movement, but when it’s overused or strained, it can lead to intense discomfort and pain.

The good news? Pain relief is within reach!

While traditional treatments can help manage the pain, it’s essential to address the root cause. Often, Plantar Fasciitis develops due to imbalances in our posture and movement patterns. By understanding how our body compensates for these imbalances, we can take proactive steps to alleviate pain and prevent future flare-ups.

The root cause can be dysfunctional ankle(s), knee(s), hip(s), lower back, upper back, shoulder(s), neck….in other words some body part(s) above your feet needs to be re-balanced.

We can work together to get rid of this pain.

Don’t let foot pain hold you back any longer. Let’s take the first step towards relief together!

Why does posture matter? It's a pain preventer, plain and simple. By staying aligned, you avoid future discomfort and tackle existing aches head-on.

Let's face it: we've all blamed a twinge on aging. Sore shoulder, creaky hip, bad knees – suddenly, you're convinced that you are getting old. But hold on! Pain doesn't come with a birth certificate. So, before you point fingers at aging for your shoulder's pain, think again…

… your left shoulder hurts due to aging?! - āøļøpause. How old is your other shoulder? Your hip? Your knee? If you think about it, blaming age will seem as odd as blaming your phone battery for running low after a long day.

This list highlights examples of pain that posture alignment can ease, without relying on medication and waiting for symptoms to come back:
- Headaches and Migraines
- Neck pain
- Jaw pain
- Shoulder, elbow and wrist pain
- Low back, mid back and upper back pain
- Stenosis
- Herniated discs
- Sciatic nerve impingement
- Degenerative discs
- Hip pain
- Knee pain
- Achilles tendinitis
- Ankle pain
- Plantar Fasciitis
- Fallen Arches (Flat Feet)
- Muscle strain and pain
If you do not see your pain listed, just ask me about it!

Why do we get sciatica?
Also known as pain down the back of the leg!

The common causes of sciatica include herniated disc, bulging disc, degenerative disc, spondylolisthesis (spondy), lumbar stenosis, sacroiliac joint dysfunction, and piriformis syndrome.

If you've been medically diagnosed with sciatica, you might have heard one or more of these terms. However, they all lead to sciatica by compressing the sciatic nerve, which runs from your lower back through your hips and buttocks and down each leg.

Aligning your posture and addressing the underlying postural imbalances can help relieve discomfort and alleviate sciatica symptoms by reducing pressure on the sciatic nerve.

As a posture alignment therapist, I take a holistic approach and prescribe simple stretches personalized to your posture needs, aiming to restore muscle memory to its natural function.

Additionally, I educate clients on proper body mechanics and ergonomic adjustments in daily activities to prevent further aggravation of the sciatic nerve and other pain related issues. You will not have to silence the pain with medication any more, you will understand the ā€˜why’ and get rid of it by aligning your joints instead!
