When you book me to come to your home or Airbnb, two things apply: a $500 minimum and a mandatory 20% gratuity. Not optional, not "if you feel like it" — built in, the same way premium service is handled anywhere that takes itself seriously.

And here's the thing I have to say with love.

Book a table for 6 at a restaurant and that same mandatory 20% gratuity gets added automatically — no questions asked. Cold food, a server who forgot your drinks twice, a 40-minute wait on the check… and it still stands. Nobody argues it.

But a one-on-one, hands-on, hauled-to-your-door spa experience? Suddenly the 20% is up for debate.

I say this gently: it shouldn't be.

Here's why the minimum exists. Most bespoke spa house calls bookings put me about an hour from my location — each direction — on premium gas. Two hours of my day and a full tank gone before I even arrive.

And the drive is the easy part. Here's what comes with me: a 50+ lb massage table carried down your stairs and loaded by myself, the towel warmer, 7 sheets, roughly 35 lbs of product, a dozen fresh towels, sprayers, disinfectant, water, hot water, a setup table — then 30 minutes to set up, the full service, 30 minutes to tear down, and the hour back home. All while turning a room that wasn't built for it into a true spa space.

So the $500 holds the operation, and the mandatory 20% gratuity honors the hands doing the work. Both are standard. Both stay.
